TP modem review
It is a ADSL modem for bsnl phone line. I received it in 5 days as promised. Physical installation was easy as I replaced it with an existing unit. To configure it I had to get bsnl engineers help as I did not know user name, password etc. It has been performing well. However my Dell laptops with Windows 8 are not connecting with wifi probably due to incompability of the drive. I am yet to contact supplier for possible solution as I am able to connect with LAN. I am not able to comment on net speed as I am not sure how good is bsnl speed is. As I do not do any heavy jobs like games and movies, I am satisfied with what the modem does. This is a good product and I vote for it.

Best router for the BSNL ADSL Broadband Connection.
Initially I was using BSNL provided DIGISOL router which had network connection & network stability issues. With DIGISOL router I used to get around 1 or 1.5 MBPS with my 10 MBPS BSNL broadband plan but with this router I am getting good 5 to 6 MBPS speeds. I reasearched a lot about this router after finding this router as Amazon's Choice. I must say I have started trusting Amazon's choice after purchasing this product. Purchased for 1649 INR, it was a steal deal. The same router in offline market will cost you around 2000 - 2100 INR.Network is so strong that I can access internet within my 2 storey building. Mind you but I have installed the router exactly at the center of my house. Outside my house perimeter signal are not that strong so no eavesdropping on my network. I have disabled the WPS functionality& the router is providing a very stable internet connection for almost 10 devices at my place. Initial setup is bit easy where you need to choose country & ISP and then all other appropriate settings will be there for you. But once you logged in the router... Due to ADSL connection even the QOS settings are very different than any other RJ45 enabled routers. Router lacks in many features like Parental Control, VPN & Dual Bands but excels in best in class network & appropriate functions to get most out of your BSNL network.

Best ADSL2+ modem , can be used as router as well
I have been using ADSL broadband service of BSNL for morethan 8 years .. I have used Dlink, Tenda, cisco routers previously.. But if we look at the price and performance ratio this TPlink modem is the best.. It has got 2 5db antennas.. Where as dling modem with 2 antennas cost 300-400 bucks more.. Good signal reception throughout my home.. Stable network.. It is easy to configure just open a browset and go to its setup page and just select ur ISP and enter u/n and p/w bam.. Thats it.. This device can be used as a router as well. Setup this modem in bridge mode to use as a router only.. I tried it with bsnl FTTH connectiom in bridge mode.. So basically a two in one device.

Value for money
As I'm only able to get ADSL connection in my village, I went for this product. And as to my expectations it's doing a very good job. It's very easy to setup, the connection strength is great too, it will easily cover a 15ft radius circle. WiFi signal is consistent but due to poor BSNL service the network goes down several times a week. The product is value for money if you are compelled to get ADSL connection.

Do not buy
Please do not buy this product as this doesnt work as expected. If you buy any product it should work as expected. The issue with this product lies in its technical issue which a non tech user will not be able to comprehend. I initially thought that there is a MTNL line/wire issue ..which I got it replaced end to end .. still this modem kept disconnecting the line leading to connection drops every few seconds. I didn't even have a stable connection for even 5 mins. I even got the modem replaced thinking the first one is faulty. Even the second one is also the same. I eventually brought dlink 2750u and this works perfectly, no line / connection drops at all. I have tried all possible firmware updates and setting one could possibly do it, with no solution. Finally I have now written to technical support if tplink to provide a solution as this is not a issue of ISP. There is a setting which dlink provide that is echo response which is not present in tplink and possibly due to this modem is disconnecting on its own as the ISP possibly is not responding to echo packets in the default settings which is not exposed via UI leading to drops. Now tplink can only answer this where dlink works perfectly and tplink doesn't. So I would leave the decision to you whether you want to spend time during PhD on why this router doesn't work or buy something which works out of the box.

Either modem is poor quality or BSNL. But no way to confirm, so modem is okayish.
Difficult to install on wall to guide into screws, but doable.Poor antennae quality, need care with handling or might break or loosen from housing.I bought it to replace Zyxel ADSL modem which seemed not to hold stable and would retrain every 5-15 mins after 1 year of using it (BSNL won't confirm it was their fault ever!!)This one stayed for few hours on link. But later on kept retraining/dropping link every 15 or so minutes when it does that.Sometimes is works fine and achieves 3.6Mbps download (I had to lower my BB profile to 4Mpbs with BSNL)Since this is almost continuous on I observed :Power-cycled in morning...In morning 7-8am, it shows good SNRby 9-11, SNR and attenuation goes drastically down to 13/8.And either it will stay holding line or keeps fluctuating throughout the day and frequent line drops.I use corporate VPN almost all time, and it (modem) seems to need a reboot everyday for some reason otherwise VPN has very low bandwidth (8kbps to 63kbps), to almost stop working.WiFi range not tested much, it is satisfactory for my usage. However, neighbouring WiFi keeps showing up more often as high range than this house one to fool windows os to take time to reconnect upon power loss/restore.Modem is very slow to boot... 3-5 mintues to lock broadband and show up webpage after 3+ minutes (which shows line not yet trained). There were no much alternatives in market, thus bought this one!!
