Does the zipper hook come out farther than the smartspring hook? I need a larger hook to hold a painting with no hanging wire to photograph.

Yes, but it's not by a lot. looks like around 1/2 inch for the zipper, and 3/8 inch for the smart spring. Note - the hook part of the smart spring could actually be bent further out if needed.

Can this be used on fishing line or only on wire?

I would only use the wire they sell because of the thickness of the wire. It comes in a clear perlon cord or steel (there are weight limitations depending on the set up). And they are designed to loop over the minirail system. Of course, that doesn't mean you couldn't test it but I couldn't tell you what gauge fishing line to use and I'm not sure that thickness even exists in fishing line. My setup turned out great!

What's the dimension of the Zipper?

These were purchased to donate to local public library. I would guess they are about 5/8" wide by 3/4" high by about 1/2" thick. Just an approximation. I may be able to measure one on Thursday. They work well.
