This is the best charging cord for my laptop. It works very well and I have no issues or anything.

Powerful (not so) little 240W 19.5VDC AC adapter.
Great investment. I needed a 180W 19.5VDC Dell AC adapter for a Dell OptiPlex micro-tower and got a 240W adapter 'just in case'. What a difference. Not only did the 'underpowered AC Adapter' warning disappear and the performance improve but the fan began running less and the core temperatures dropped about 20'C; I assume that the lowered performance taxed the CPUs more and caused them to run more. Now, I mostly set it and forget that it is there (that is a compliment). It retains the blue-ring power-on indicator on the 7.5mm plug, like the Dell OEM adapters, so you can see the power supply status, at a glance. It is fairly large and heavy, though: about 8"x4"x1" and 625g/1.5 lbs, without cords, which is no issue in a stationary use, like mine, but you might want to consider the size and weight if you are lugging your laptop around a lot. All in all, a fine item. Recommended.

broke within 6 days
worked perfectly for m15 r7 until it just stopped working within 6 days. EDIT: ended up returning and got a full refund. you’re better off buying one from the dell website for $100, it’ll save you more in the long run.

Functionally fine but has coil whine
It works fine for my Alienware 15 R2 (upgraded logic board from i7 6700HQ & 970M to i7 6820HK & 980M and yes the battery WILL drain if you use the 180w stock charger on the 6820HK & 980M config) but when plugged in I can hear coil whine. Its very quiet but I hear it and for someone in a very quiet environment it would get annoying FAST.

Excellent power adapter!
This one works properly, unlike many of the lower priced, poorer speced (tho same wattage) adapters we find on other online retail sites. Great value!

It puts out the right power for my laptop
I like that it works very well. I don't like how weak Dell made the design on the cord. Thee line has broken on two seperate previous power blocks in the same place at the blue light end of the cord at the computer end;

Not sure what the original charger looked or performed like but this does the job with no complaints or issues!

I have a Dell Alienware m15 R7 laptop. I forgot my charger when I travelled out of town and bought this to replace it. It works well, I think it charges the computer as quickly as the original charger. Unlike some lower quality chargers that I've bought over the 36 years that I've used laptops, this charger doesn't run hot and the connector and the laptop don't feel hot after 24 hours of use.

I just received this power supply-a day earlier than expected-and plugged it in. The computer is powered and the battery is charging. No issues to report, but if there are problems in the future I will update this review. I have to comment that I haven't detected any humming sound like a couple of other customers have said, and I'm not hard of hearing so I think I would notice. Also, some have complained that the supply itself is too large or too heavy, but I compared it to the original and it's amost identical in weight and size, maybe a tad thicker. This is a 240W 12.3A power supply, and you're not going to be able to get it much smaller or lighter. Check your computer, and if it doesn't need high power requirements of this supply, get a smaller one that does. *Almost-four-month-review: I feel badly for my unit in hot weather because I don't have air conditioning and it must be operating at fairly high temperatures, but it has held-up just fine so far. As a side note, I have a history of unplugging my battery for months at a time because I don't like constantly charging a battery and wearing it out when I have the computer plugged into a wall outlet 99% of the time (that may change when I go back to school). At a certain point, I thought the battery connector within the computer was faulty because the battery wasn't getting charged. With this new power supply, the computer operates properly AND the battery gets charged when I plug the battery back in. I think it was a warning sign that my old power supply was nearing the end of its life, but I didn't recognize it as such. Anecdotal, but interesting. Update: Somewhere between six months and a year my computer performance kept dropping after starting to use this power supply. I suspected everything thing from a worn-out motherboard to bios to a worn-out GPU. then I used hwi64 to have a close look at every sensor stat. My GPU wasn't getting over 0.6V. It should be around 0.9-1.1V. So I tested this power supply and lo and behold, it was defective. It worked well when I first got it, which means it burned out sometime in the first year I had it. My advice is DO NOT BUY FROM THIS MANUFACTURER. Buy from the OEM or a reputable manufacturer!

Purchased this one to replace the oem ac adapter that failed. The replacement is bigger, but is working as it should.
