Rockport has always been one step ahead of the times, believing the perfect shoe has not yet been invented. This positive dissatisfaction compels them to constantly improve upon their footwear. Founded in 1971, they were the first company to use advanced athletic technologies in casual shoes to achieve lightweight comfort, and the first company to engineer walking comfort in dress and casual shoes.

I walk for a living
I would like to tell everyone how awesome these shoes are. These are easily worth $30 more than what I paid for them. I walk all day pounding the pavement with my feet 10+ miles non stop. These are awesome shoes year round. My feet are never wet and ache less than ever before after work. They are durable! Most new shoes I've bought in the past burn out in less than 2 weeks where I work. These are still going strong! If you have the doe and are looking for a light wieght water proof "60,000 mile tire warranty" style rubber and tread; This is it!!!!

So - so
Six months of use and the sole separated from the shoe about half way from toe to heel. Water got in, of course. Used super glue to reattach the sole and they seemed to work for another month...then came apart again. I have never had problems with Rockport shoes, of which I have owned about six pair. I will try this model again, just to be sure this was a fluke.

If the shoes fit, . . . .
I'm a big fan of Rockport walking shoes, and when my previous pair of waterproof walkers became unrepairable (after 4-5 full repairs over 10-15 years), it was time for a new one. This fit the bill. It fits well, great arch & instep support, truly waterproof, and apparently very durable. No complaints after a month of regular wearing.

Not true to size
This shoe runs wide especially in the heel. My husband wears 11 1/2 D and his foot was swimming. He only wears Rockport so I am not sure why the discrepancy

DMX FlowPak just a lump of air under my foot.
I've worn Rockport ProWalkers for at least ten years. A week ago I bought the new Astride ProWalker with the DMX FlowPak technology. While they felt okay in the store, after wearing them for a few hours my feet began to hurt where the DMX FlowPak is located (just below the balls of my feet). I've worn these shoes for a week now and they continue to hurt my feet. This "revolutionary" DMX FlowPak is nothing but an air pouch in the sole of the shoe. Nothing about it "flows" as I walk. These are the most uncomforable ProWalkers I've ever owned. I'm going to try to return these shoes, but my shoe store has a no return policy. I've contacted Rockport customer service. We'll see what type of response I get.

Striding with the Comfortable and Sturdy Rockport Astrides
These shoes are not as comfortable and sturdy as the Rockport Prowalkers I have worn for several years. Also, in these Astrides, one feels and ought to get used to the bubble air cushioning in the middle of the shoe. An additional quarter of an inch heal would have made me more satisfied. But all in all, this is quite a comfortable and presentable shoe that will serve me for a reasonable length of time, and I hope to buy more pairs. Further, there was quite a substantial discount and free shipping on Amazon, which was enticing. I had never, before, worn these Astrides, but the public reviews were encouraging! Also, consider that because Rockport manufacturing has progressively become outsourced to many Asian countries (including Vietnam), the quality of the same shoe models can still vary and make it harder to judge overall quality. It is not like those times when Rocports were manufactured in a couple of settings.

Testing the ASTRIDE shoe
I have worn these Astride shoes for 3 months and they are wearing out the sole at the heel and the inner back heel pad is coming apart. They are almost a half size larger than any other Rockport shoes I have worn. They are well padded and have a wide toe so they feel quite comfortable (of course this may be due to the extra insoles needed to adjust the size problem). They are a very nice comfy shoe but not what I would call " a sturdy walking shoe'. I have worn Rockport World Tour Walkers for over 5 years and still prefer them for walking to the Astride.

If the shoe fits buy it
Rockport Men's Astride are my favourite comfort shoes so when I needed a new pair I hit the stores trying to get a pair. All shops I went to had none in stock and of those who said they could get a pair in for me the cost was to be somewhere between AUD250 and AUD270. So I did what any person in need of shoes that were not readily available would do - I went on line to Amazon. In a matter of about 2 weeks (it could have been less) I had a pair of Rockport Men's Astride in my size and the colour I wanted all for around AUD68 INCLUDING POSTAGE!
