I wasn't too sure what to expect, but this was a pleasant surprise. When I go it, I felt it and immediately thought that it would be too thin. I'm living in Manitoba where, with the wind chill, I'm often facing -30C or worse weather during the winter. I walk almost an hour outside every day, so I needed something that would block the wind, keep my face warm, and yet still be breathable. This worked way better than I thought it would. I wear a hoodie so the back, sides, and top of my head are protected, but not my face and ears. The balaclava has kept them warm and protected. I love how versatile it is. I can wear it down around my neck if the weather is warm, I can pull it up to cover everything except my eyes, nose, and mouth, or I can cover everything except my eyes. I've really enjoyed using it.

Does absolutely nothing. Manufacturing skimped out on the fabric while selling it at full price. If you look at it from the inside out it looks like a fly screen. Tested it for several days and the parts covered by the mask are at best 2 degrees warmer. Wore it in 14 degree weather and it was still chilly. Completely worthless.

I've used this solely for under-helmet while riding a motorcycle. It's thin enough that it doesn't affect helmet fitment very much, but warm enough to make a huge difference during the ride. It's a good fit for my head/face (I usually wear between a M and L in moto helmets). I love that it's 100% merino wool and has basically no smell to it. The length is substantial enough to go down into your shirt and allow for high collars to come up over it with plenty of overlap. What you get is a nice seal of your neck and face away from the wind! It has kept my neck and head warm enough while riding even down into the teens *F. Thus far, I've washed it 2-3 times in a delicates zippered pouch (cold water cycle), and air dried it (doesn't take long), and it hasn't yet show any signs of wear. Hopefully that continues for many washes!
