Wow! What an excellent wine!
The Eclipse line of wine kits from Winexpert is their newest venture into top-of-the-line wine kits. At approximately $200 per kit, it works out to nearly seven dollars per 750ML bottle. (The kit makes approximately 30 bottles of wine.) This is considerably more expensive than most wine kits. However, having made these kits, I will say unequivocally that they are worth every penny. What you will be producing will be a bottle of wine that is easily the equal of one that retails at 30 dollars or more. The particular wine kit under review, the "Lodi Ranch 11 Cabernet Sauvignon," is a dry full-bodied red wine with heavy oak intensity. Hints of pepper and spice enhance the fruity blackcurrant and cherry flavor that one senses from the first whiff of the bouquet to the last drop in the glass. The wine pairs well with lamb and mint sauce, but is appropriate for steak and other cuts of beef as well. The entire five-step process will take no more than eight weeks from the initial mixing to bottling. Each step can be done in less than an hour. After bottling, age for at least six months before opening a bottle. A year or more of aging is better, since like most fine wines, this one will continue to develop for well over a year.
