The paint came off from the bids and the smell of wood is very strong. I think the paint wasn't really dry when I got it. I don't mind the smell of wood as I love it but its not to every one. I like as it is very light and serves me on what I need.

I know what sandalwood smells like and these do not. The soapy smell is nauseating and is distracting while meditating. I tried to wash the smell off but it's still there and the beads lost their luster (otherwise I would've returned them). I can restore the luster if they are real wood, I just hope having them outside for another month helps the smell!

Count me among the reviewers that eventually got a nasty rash from this product. I purchased the Gourd / Sandalwood version and I'm not sure what wood was actually used in the making of these but after a month of so of wearing, once the veneer coat on the beads wore thin, I developed a really aggressive rash. I even washed them thoroughly with soap and water, and then cleaned them with both alcohol and hydrogen peroxide to ensure that I hadn't come in contact with some contaminant that got on the beads after wearing them. I waited a few months after cleaning them (the rash took several weeks to go away) and tried them on again, just to confirm that it was the beads themselves. Yep, after about an hour I broke out all along my wrist. Photo attached, you can see the imprint of the individual beads. Whatever the "sandalwood" version is actually made of, it isn't actually sandalwood. And it's toxic.

This smells so good! It makes me want to get them in different colors. I have only used for a week so I don't know how long the elastic will last if I use this daily. They are affordable, though, so I can easily replace if they break. Satisfied customer here.
