Good recipe book. Love to use it

I'm as eager as anyone to save money on the ONE area of our budget where we spend plenty - groceries, food, meals. But I don't always have the time to clip coupons, comparison shop or make everything from scratch. Happily, this book is still VERY, very useful to me and the author had made it accessable to all sorts of cooks.Even better, the recipes are ones my family will eat. I'd had some "frugal" cookbooks where the recipes were indeed quite inexpensive...unfortunately, EVERY bit ended up feeding only our garbage disposal. No thanks. Cheap is only a part of the "frugal" equation. Taste is equally important, with recipes that are special, yummy, something a family can savor. If a meal isn't a pleasant occasion (or, at least, the food itself isn't tasty even on the most stressful days), then I say...what's the point?Luckily, these recipes ARE tasty...and there are plenty of money-saving tips which don't focus only on WHAT you eat but remind readers that saving money includes minimizing trips to the grocery store (less gas money) and making the most of sales that might pop up unexpectedly (you know, like the time the meat department accidentally has an oversupply of some item and drastically cuts the price). Now you can take advantage of these times and know WHAT to do with the items you've bought.Finally, there is plenty of humor in this volume and humor is always a plus! The author neither takes her subject too seriously (cooking can and should be fun) or lightly. I learned plenty and had fun along the way.

Just love this book. So many easy recipes, good old simple home cooking. Nothing difficult, but all tasty. Lots of helpful little tidbits of information included, such as homemade cleaning recipes and beauty supplies (things like shampoo, conditioners, lotions, etc). Also money saving tips. The book is a smorgasbord of information that is useful in any home to make life easier and less expensive, while still enjoying a great quality of life. There are several indexes to help you find what you are looking for since this book covers so many home topics.

I absolutely ADORE this book! The recipes are easy, even for the newest of cooks (like me) but they are also delicious and cheap! The tips they give in the book are awesome, too! The authors give advice about how to freeze food safely, what spices to use with what foods, etc. VERY useful! I will be buying this book for every young woman I know, and it will be my wedding gift from now on! It talks about how to make everything from scratch, from ketchup to baby wipes and crayons...love it! I can't go on enough about it! Most of these types of books have disgusting recipes that TASTE like they only cost $2.00, but this book is so different! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!!

I am a person that tries to use natural products a much as possible.When I discovered this book I ordered it based on the fact that it contains plenty of homemade recipes for everything from food to general cleaning.This book does not disappoint.This book makes it very easy to live inexpensively and naturally.After reading this book you will see just how much money is wasted on products which can be made at home for pennies on the dollar.

Good general cookbook for budget chefs. Good frugal ideas.

I LOVE this cookbook. If you are looking to save money, then you need this cookbook. I have made gift baskets with all the odds and ends for a wedding and put this cookbook in it. It was a big hit. It has so many easy and delicious recipes in it. I have alot of cookbooks but I always grab this one first. To me everyone needs this book especially young women who are just starting out. It has alot of tips in it. It also has recipes for beauty supplies, cleaning supplies, things for kids such as homemade playdough which is pretty cool. If you buy it you won't be sorry.

I really do like this cookbook. I make a few things from this book a lot. Some recipes are common sense... or something anyone with any kitchen know how would know how to make. But that could be a big plus for someone not so kitchen savvy. The book fell apart shortly after receiving it. The plastic rings which held the pages in place fell apart and now I keep it in a gallon size storage bag. Kind of annoying, but it is still very usable. I would buy this book for a friend and actually came here to do so, but Amazon does not offer it at this time, and the price offered by the other sellers is well above what I bought mine for on amazon.
