I purchased the 4" depth half pan, which when matched with its accompanying lid ( amazon.com/Carlisle-10230U07-StorPlus-Polycarbonate-Universal/dp/B002NDZD6I/ref=pd_sbs_4?pd_rd_w=723Ue&pf_rd_p=527ea27c-adf6-4b67-9c5f-265eb29e0622&pf_rd_r=PAFHVEG1HXT8MSJGPKQ5&pd_rd_r=b9443114-ffa0-4dbd-bba5-74594f22707d&pd_rd_wg=11Ggf&pd_rd_i=B002NDZD6I&psc=1 ) acts as an excellent and economical food storage container. The polycarbonate is rugged and durable and will last for years barring any heat or shock abuse. The plastic will not melt or crack easily, but excessive heat or force will cause damage. One caveat – this did not "nest" as expected with other Carlisle polycarbonate containers. I have also purchased 4", and 6" inch 1/3 pans, but they will not nest accordingly inside this half pan, as one would expect. The problem is that the walls of this half pan are not exactly vertical/squared, so a 1/3 pan cannot fit inside without "bowing" this pan's walls, and as such, will not rest in a settled nested stack. So while the container works fine, has the expected measure of volume, and matches excellently with a lid, it is not as precisely modular as it should be with alternate standard sized containers. The inability to stack these varied sized containers together eliminates on the efficiency of storage available, considering they will have to be stored in separate stacks.

This is exactly what I was looking for.. Great quality, it will outlive me.

This system is great to keep food organized and to take food from the kitchen to the flat top, or BBQ grill. Great to store food in the refrigerator, or set out as a salad bar for guests. Fast delivery, well packaged.

Using this as a all in 1 knife sharpening station has worked great. enough space for all my stones and sharpening tools.

This seems like a very good, very thick, very sturdy polycarbonate pan, especially for the price it was listed for at the time I bought it. It's made in Mexico. I don't know how it compares to other brands of food pans since I don't work in the food industry. I bought it for a project not related to food pans at all, where dimensions and weight are critical. I thought I was going to save 340 grams switching from a stainless steel Winco SPH4 to this Carlisle 10221B07 since the weight listed on Amazon for this item is 201 grams. But the actual weight is 490 grams. The Winco SPH4 weights 541 grams (not the 0.28 grams which is obviously wrong in the Amazon listing), I'm not going to downgrade from stainless steel to polycarbonate for a difference of only 51 grams.
