Q: Will this fit an AF-S lense?

You can buy a Nikon Mount Adapter FTZ. On a Z camera with the Mount Adapter FTZ, compatible F-Mount NIKKOR lenses retain all of their sharpness and superb rendering power. Q: Does the "body only" model come with battery, charger, case or lanyard?

Yes. You will get the camera body, battery, charger, lanyard, and manual.

Q: How smooth is the manual focus ring. Last few autofocus nikon lenses I've owned are all really loose and sloppy.

If you have cheaper Z mount lenses, manual focusing is not particularly great. Lenses are made primarily for autofocusing. The larger S lenses should be better. I've ordered 105mm S macro and would expect manual focusing to be excellent.
