Panni Bavarian Potato Pancake Mix, 6.8 Ounce

The price is too high

I have been enjoying PANNI POTATO PANCAKES for the past 50 years or so. My mom used to make them for me when I was a little girl - and I have proudly treated my family to them for the past 4 decades. We love the taste - the crispy crunch - and the relative convenience of preparation and clean-up. The price has ranged from $2.75 - $3.50 per box. But, for the past 4 years or so, our our local retailers - strangely - only stock the PANNI POTATO DUMPLING mix. When asked, they state that they cannot "special order" the POTATO PANCAKE MIX. Verrry weird! So, I've been using alternate brands to satisfy our potato pancake (latke) fix... but we ALL prefer the PANNI brand.AMAZON to the rescue! I have ordered the PANNI brand twice through AMAZON and am satisfied with the taste and quality, however considering the increased price point, I'm a tad bit disappointed that some of the fine powder mix is lost during shipment (spillage contained inside a plastic bag enclosing the box). It is not the fault of AMAZON, though. For as long as I can remember, the boxed powder/mix has always been contained in an unconventional, old fashioned wax paper type "bag" that is folded - not sealed - inside of the box. As a result, mailorder transport is not a friend to this product. Product leakage is inevitable, hence the plastic outer wrapping safeguard provided by shipping.So, aside from minor leakage/loss of product during transport -and- the fact that mailorder pricing is rather expensive, I am still willing to purchase this product via internet.... that is... well... until the price point makes it too cost prohibitive.

The reconstituted mix had very little body to it, I had to add flour to make it more like, what I was used to. The original box that I bought in the store did not say Bavarian, and it seemed much flakier. I bought a regular potato pancake mix and added some of it to the Bavarian to get a better dough.

So hard to find in my area, but glad to be able to order online from Amazon. Delicious, crispy, perfect.

Very good but a bit pricy

I felt that the size of the mix box was to high for the amount of pancake mix. When opening the mailing package there was pancake mix leaking out of the product box. I am Afraid to use it now. The bag inside was not even sealed. would not buy it again.

What a joke, came packaged with the box of mix inside a sealed baggie, with mix inside the bag and out of the box. Have no idea as to an expiration date, or whether its safe to eat. Wasted the money.If they had 0 star rating that is what it would have gotten.Amazon has to do better with quality control on its vendors, again 0 start rating
