Mondaine SBB Smart stop2go Wall Clock - Aluminium - iOS / Android

I just received the Mondaine SBB Smart stop2go Wall Clock from Amazon UK. The clock looks fantastic. Quality construction. Took a few trials to get the time set correctly but not too difficult. Overall a great looking clock and works very well. Highly recommended if you are looking for an iconic time piece on your wall. Reminds me of my trips to Switzerland.

Why did you choose this product over others?: I received the wifi version today. Set up wasn't smooth, when trying to connect the SSID kept dropping and reappearing. After setting up, the syncing took about 5-6 minutes which seems slow. Overall not a robust or smooth process. The biggest problem however is the minute hand alignment with the minute and hour indices. In a normal clock the minute hand sweeps between minute indices, on the Stop3Go movement the minute hand remains stationary and jumps from minute marker to minute marker whilst the second hand pauses at 12 for 2 seconds. The issue is the misalignment of the minute hand with these markers which is worst between 1 and 6 where it lands between minute markers. This is an irritating issue if you like attention to detail in time keeping or are OCD. For a RRP of £299 I expected this to not be an issue and am now contemplating sending this back and just getting a normal version where the minute hand sweeps but the second hand ticks, I do not prefer this option as the second hand has a cheap looking tick where the back lash is visible but a compromise to at least have the minute hand where it should be. I do not think this clock is worth the asking price and more so given this massive issue with the minute hand not landing on the minute markers.

Looks superb, but will simply not work correctly. What were Mondaine thinking?! It’s a clock and it won’t tell the time? No amount of setting up or syncing with the app gets it to correctly tell the time. Totally useless and returned.

I returned my first one to Amazon as faulty - it was gaining 3 seconds a day! The replacement is not much better, but it's down to gaining about 2 seconds a day. This is despite trying a number of different manufacturers and ages of AA batteries. The Quartz mechanism in this clock is supposedly some kind of superior Mondaine version or something. I'm not sure. But for a Swiss branded time piece that costs the most I've ever spent on a clock, it's the worst timekeeper in my house! OK, it looks great, admittedly the second hand doesn't 'sweep' like the official Swiss railways clocks, but it does pause satisfyingly on the minute. You can of course adjust the time any time by opening the accompanying Mondaine app on your phone. So at least you don't have to take it off the wall to fiddly adjust, although you do have to set the time by taking action. It's not automatic daily adjust or anything, you do have to open the app yourself. For the quality of look and feel of the clock, and the name and heritage of the timekeeping that goes with it, and it's price, you'd expect a far more superior time keeper that gained less than a second a day. I know it's not easy to get perfectly accurate quartz mechanisms, yet far cheaper clocks I have manage to keep better time. I've decided to keep the replacement and reset time every now and again, and have written a contact to Mondaine to complain wrt above. I wait and see how they react! Expected much better than this clock manages on timekeeping, but happy with it's appearance.

Love the product as it brings back travelling memories of journey through the Swiss Rail System. The only thing that would have topped it off is if the designers somehow could have made the second hand sweep like they do in Switzerland. I know the watch model does this but unfortunately the clock model does not. It is still great to see it "Stop to Go" at the top of the hour though.

This is a striking and distinctive wall clock, which oddly is set by downloading a phone app and connecting via Bluetooth. This all went reasonably well until I found that the time on the clock and the time on my phone differed. It was necessary hen to conduct a fiddly alignment exercise with the app. In all, it took a good ten to fifteen minutes to set up. Once that is completed, the clock works perfectly; a week after set up it is keeping perfect time. I'm looking forward to the next time the clocks change and this one changes without my intervention.

In love with this clock. Bought for our new flat and works perfectly - the stop2go functionality gives it a really cool edge on a normal clock. The set-up isn’t the easiest, however it does t take a brain surgeon

I have spent a lifetime in railway and was pleased to be able to have this icon of Swiss railways. The clock functions well reflecting the "Stop2Go" characteristic. Sadly accuracy is missing, gaining as much as 5 seconds per day. I have a cheap clock from Lidl with much better time keeping. The mobile app can be used to syncronise the clock to mobile time. The effect is temporary as error is observed soon after. Considering returning clock for exchange in the hope replacement will be more accurate

Awesome clock , it came packaged with plenty of foam to protect the clock and the YouTube video was great on how to set it up , and I had it going in 5 min , cool clock , no problems just watch the video ez .

This was bought a Christmas gift in Dec'23 and the delivery process was fine, I had no issues. It is packaged very well and the box presentation of the clock is really nice, you can see from the moment you open the clock packaging this is a quality product. The finish of the clock is also very nice as is the glass cover, batteries are supplied so these will need to be fitted before use. The wifi setup took a few mins as I needed to go onto YouTube to confirm how to set the time to GMT in my zone; this was straightforward in the end and Mondaine also provides an app that you can download to your mobile phone to adjust the settings i.e. after batteries need to be replaced or to allow for seasonal adjustment to a time zone. Once you have confirmed connectivity & setup the clock it goes through a config as it moves the hour/minute hands automatically to accurately show the time. The hour/minute hands align perfectly with the minute indices and thereafter the stop2go feature provides enjoyment as the minute hand moves once the seconds hand reaches the 12 position and stops. This behaves exactly like the memorable Swiss railway clocks. I was wondering if this would be large enough to see in our dinning room/kitchen but it is clearly legible and it was an absolutely perfect size for me. It is expensive but I expect that this will last for many years. You will need to reconfigure the clock time when that battery needs to be replaced or adjust for summer/winter time. I do not know yet, how long the battery last but I will update the post later when I have this information.
