IMPORTANT ISSUES RAISED, WITH MUCH TO PROVOKE THOUGHT
How we get it so wrong about people in power, they so restricted in what they can actually achieve! Ever are they surrounded by those with secret agendas, pestered by media craving an indiscretion that can go viral and seriously undermine. Urgent decisions needingto be made, ever mindful a miscalculation can have devastating consequences. What chance of a happy home life, children not to be neglected when with problems of their own?Again focus is on Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord, she under daily pressure and coping very well considering. Strongly depicted is the stress of it all.Much light is shed on many issues that require careful handling. Certain world leaders are not to be trusted, ever determined to take advantage. In so many countries, terrorists are ever more powerful, weapons so easily obtained. All over the world drug gangs are gaining an ever-increasing hold. Ever more rampant is chicanery online - so much fake news, so many dirty tricks. Global warming deserves top priority. Which source of energy is the most planet friendly? Danger also abounds. (Be prepared for many bombs to go off.) What of the greatest threat of all? Nuclear annihilation. Learned the hard way is how life could end for millions as the result of a technical misunderstanding.Strong fare. It all works a treat thanks to pertinent scripts, convincing performances, not to mention very welcome lighter moments (these often provided by scenes at home or the interplay between Elizabeth's key advisers). So many on high straitjacketed by circumstances. The series illuminates. All credit to it.

Getting (even) better
Admittedly, this is a guilty pleasure my partner and I indulge: popcorn that engages the brain. The series is formulaic but the family is loveable, the scenarios are believable and the 'tracking' of current events (to the point of these becoming "might have been" plots) is interesting. A liberal's dream of what the US might be; realistic it ain't and don't expect lessons in post-colonialism or alternative economies. If you don't you'll enjoy this.

Sheer propaganda, but nevertheless an exceptional series
Season 3 and season 4 are as exceptional as were seasons one and two. Each episode is always based on an event that really happpened, and spins it to make the US look very, very good. It does not matter to me that it is sheer and efficient pro US propaganda. Madam Secretary, is an outstanding series. One of my favorites. One of the vey few I take pleasure in seeing twice. And Lea Teoni is absolutely perfect in this role. Matou

Fab series
Absolutely love this series. If you like this you would also like The West Wing as it's on a similar style. I have just bought this to add to my other series of Madam Secretary.

Super Secretary
Brilliantly continues the series. Never gets old. Great characters you care about and plot twists aplenty.

Brilliant show. Think West Wing
Brilliant show. Think West Wing, but with a great female lead. Dialogue not quite Arron Sorkin standard, but story arcs are good. It reminds what politicians should be like.
