How do you not have one of these
I've installed one of these in every car I've had in the last twenty or so years, makes oil changes easy and quick with no mess (well, except for the filter, but some cars and trucks are easier than others). Flip the little tab and the oil drains, close the tab when done, fast and secure, easy peasy. No tools, no busted knuckles, no oil on your hands unless you're a real klutz, if you keep your vehicles a while and change the oil yourself, you really really need a Fumoto valve for your ride

The 14mm Fumoto fits Audi Q5 3.0L TDI without using an adapter (read on)
This review is specific to using the Fumoto F106N valve (M14 x 1.5 or 14mm) on a 2014-2016 Audi Q5 3.0L TDI diesel. No guarantee it will fit on other VAG or Porsche 3.0L TDI's. Just because you have a 3.0L TDI doesn't mean it will fit your vehicle -- the Q5 may have a different shape oil pan and undercarriage cover than your A6, A7, A8, Q7, Toureg, or CD. if you're reading this, then you've likely already considered the magnetic drain bolt, the Votex drain plug with screw-on cover, and the pump (to pump oil out from the dipstick hole or filter housing) already. I was trying to avoid having to remove the drain bolt every time. I also wanted to drain right into a 5qt jug. The Votex looks good but I'm a bit leary of the screw-on cover since it depends on an O-ring that's going to be subjected to thermal cycles of heat and cool from the hot oil. People have had good success with pumping out the oil from the top, but I'm old-school and believe the best way to get waste out is exactly how my body gets rid of waste...from the bottom. Your mileage may vary. Long story short, this valve fits without the need for the adapter, and the undercarriage cover goes over the valve perfectly to protect it (since it protrudes about an 1" from the oil pan.) In order for the valve to clear the oil pan as you tighten it, you will need an additional 14mm washer between the included fiber washer and the valve body. My wife drives an Acura MDX, so I had a bunch of 14mm crush washers that I used for this purpose. I recommend using a crush washer (and not a regular washer) since it can deform slightly to contour to the valve body. The included blue fiber washer is the one that makes contact with the oil pan. Then the 14mm washer goes between the fiber washer and the valve body. I did not use a torque wrench -- just common sense (don't over tighten it.) With the 14mm washer, there is just enough clearance from the oil pan as you tighten the valve such that I did not need to use the Fumoto adapter. Using the adapter would have made the valve stick out from the oil pan too much, thus the undercarriage cover would be hitting it. Do not put the crush washer against the oil pan -- put the fiber washer against the oil pan. The valve without the adapter does stick out about an inch, but there is plenty of clearance in the undercarriage cover such that it goes over the valve just fine and fastens to the underbody no problem. I was nervous whether the valve protruding from the oil pan would be a disaster in the making, but the cover protects it perfectly. Make sure you test for leaks before putting the undercarriage cover back on! Also monitor the oil level on the MMI. My install was leak-free. Lastly, there are folks who are worried that the valve (as opposed to a drain plug) will cause about 1/8" of oil to remain at the bottom of the oil pan. It's because when you screw the valve into the drain bolt hole, the valve body protrudes inside the pan. If you're OCD and need to get every last drop of used oil out, then this may not be for you. I change the oil every 5000 miles, so it's kind of a moot point for me. The Fumoto valve is pricey for what it is, but it is very well made and works as intended.

Easy peasy
What a great product! I put these fumoto valves on everything. Makes oil changes such a breeze and no mess. I recommend them to everyone. Total game changer. Only downside is you don't get to see the benefits until your next change. Do your future self a favor and get one!

Helps prevent a mess when you change oil in your car.
Essential if you change your own oil, and want to avoid spills. Easy to install, but you have to think about how it will be oriented, which is not obvious. They also sell a right angle version which might be needed, if you have interferences. You will also want a short length of plastic tubing to lead from the valve to the container. It is not permanently attached. You will invariably forget how to open the valve if you only do it once or twice each year, but it is not hard to figure out. Quite clever. I have bought several of these, and only one disappointed me - it was for a Yanmar engine on a sailboat, and it was a nightmare to install, because of the sailboat design - and it did not really make changing the oil easier. Special situation for sailboats.

Well worth the money!
This is the third Fumoto value I have ordered. Use one on Class A motor home F-53 Ford Chassis. Drain plug right over the front axle. This is a must for changing oil, or you end up with a big mess. Also use it on two jeeps. Makes oil changes clean and easy.

Valve body and valve handle too long.
Finally got around to changing the oil in my 2025 Honda Ridgeline, and only after lifting the truck, and removing the the OEM oil drain plug did I find out the Fumoto (F-106N) valve would not work with my truck. The problem is the valve body and valve handle are too long. Initially, the valve handle and valve body strike the exhaust heat shield, and I thought I might be able to bend the heat shield or cut away a small portion to allow for clearance, but that did not work. As you screw in the unit the valve body then hits the oil pan. Simply put, the area around the drain plug hole does not have enough room for the Futmoto valve to screw in completely. In the end, I could make progress with the heat shield clearance but I cannot remove any portion of the oil pan - obviously. I will be returning this item if possible.

Great upgrade to your Land Rover Discovery 3 LR3 that allows you to connect a line to the nipple without having to remove the large skid plate and drain your oil easily into a container from underneath! Recommended for every Land Rover LR3 owner!

Be aware it will not allow all the oil to drain out. I opened the valve to drain my oil and waited till it was coming out in drops, then I removed the device by unscrewing it from the drain hole and to my surprise more oil flowed out steadily, approx 0.5 Ltrs. So you need to weigh up the pros and cons of this.
