It is well built and well thought out product and makes trapping much easier. Assembly is easy: well written directions. Installation is easy too. I will advise getting matching transfer cage which makes it much easier to get animal from this large trap. I bought it get my missing cat back home. Certainly those who do professional trapping to rescue animals will appreciate this product. With the transfer cage it is expensive purchase but well worth it. Under most circumstances you will need team of two for successful operation. If you personally know any rescue animal trappers, please gift them trap and transfer cage if they do not have one. It will let them help more with animal rescue.

Since the beginning of 2025 I've had nearly $6000USD in vet bills because this aggressive feral cat has been tormenting my animals. I live inside the city limits, so a percussive way of dealing with the cat wasn't an option. The Feral Tom had avoided every type of trap and net I'd purchased (or previously owned). FINALLY this trap (and transfer cage) got the job done with minimal efforts. Thank you for the excellent product! It's size and durability are top-notch and it was easy to set up. Once I did receive the trap ( took almost a month) it worked perfectly. This trap allowed me to get the last 3 feral cats fixed! The cats were to smart for step on traps so thank you. No more unfixed cats.

This is so easy to set up and use. It allowed us to catch a scared stray cat. We were able to put a rope from the cage and under our door so we caught him the first night. He’s now a happy cat with a human family to care for him.

I just love this trap. I do a lot of TNR, and it has been very effective in helping me get those trap-shy kitties that won’t go in the typical box traps. It’s so nice that it collapses flat for transport and it’s easy to set up.

I tried catching a very injured cat for almost 2 months now using one of these Havahart humane traps and it was a no-go, he was way too smart for it.. I decided to buy this bad boy the "Tomahawk Drop Trap" and within 3 days this cat is now caught. All I did was attach a fishing line to the 'leg' and when he was chomping away, I gave a quick and strong pull and down it went. I had a concrete block to anchor the trap which was very useful. I didn't have any special transfer cage, but I had one of these transport carry-on for pets. I was able to "macgyver" a way to get him into it and now he's finally somewhere safe. This drop trap works. Havahart works only on the very dumb or too curious kitties. Now, understand that it took 3 days.. Why? I would bait the trap with lots of food, enough to feed at least 6 hungry cats.. They see one and other come in and out.. They figure it is safe. So, with patience, you can wait until the one you really need to trap gets in. You need to be quick on the pull. What was nice in the way I was set up is that the fishing line is so fine, it could be pulled from inside the house with the door closed. Suffice to say, because of this trap, this kitty is now safe and sound and I will be able to get it the medical attention it needs. It's worth the investment.

WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY! We have a momma cat we have been trying to catch for 2 years. 2 YEARS! She would not go any where near a regular live trap. She is just too smart. Propped this up 2 weeks before trying to catch her and kept all the food under so she got used to eating under the trap. The night before her spay appointment, we removed the props and set the leg. Momma walked right in and started eating, pulled the string and trap came down. It’s brilliant! Folds up nicely for storage.
