Nice size book, good information and lots of facts. A good purchase for my shark mad niece (she is seven). I would absolutely recommend it to any young and old who have an interest in the world of sharks.

Absolutely amazing book, full of brill pictures and information, brought it as a birthday present for my grandaughter who loved it.

I purchased this as a gift for my son because he was obsessed with sharks. This did not disappoint! The pictures are amazing and the facts are good enough to impress him but teach him small details. He’s too young to read by himself, but it is always a book that he pulls whe he wants to “read” to himself.

I noticed this book in the window of a local tour company in the Galápagos Islands. I only had the chance to quickly look into the other books of the shop but not this one (big mistake!). As the other books were very high quality, I decided to give this book a chance - even though I only saw the cover beforehand. The book has one serious issue - picture quality. I find the original idea of using one big picture of some rare sea animal across two pages and adding some trivial info quite nice. This would be the perfect layout to catch the attention of a teenager. Especially since most of us go through that particular phase in our childhood where we want to be archeologists who dig up dinosaurs, fighter jet pilots or marine biologists and we were literally eat up all relevant books on those topics. The concept however does not work here. This is because of the low(ish) resolution of the photos. Even though the book has been released almost ten years ago, this picture quality would have been ridiculous already in the early 2000’s. In 2024, from a DK book, and for this price it is outright shocking and revolting. You better save your money and chose something else instead. For example, I would gladly recommend DK’s visual guide on oceans (the new edition w Fabien Cousteau’s introduction). That book is stunning.

A well-written comprehensive book on Sharks and other creatures of the ocean, bought this as a gift for my nephew on his birthday and he loves it and learnt a lot from it.

My 5yo son absolutely adores this book and others in the series. We have been reading and rereading about the animals on this book most nights since he got it in May. The pictures are great, there are some really interesting creatures I’ve never heard of and lots of interesting facts. There is quite a bit of advanced information so we pick and choose what to focus on but I know this book with continue to offer great info as he gets older. This is our third book in the series - the big one is exceptional!
