Elegant Spice-Forward Tobacco That Holds Its Own
I recently snagged Amber Oud Tobacco Edition and found it to be a warm, spicy tobacco fragrance that confidently carries its own identity, even when compared to Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. The opening greets you with a bold rush of cinnamon, black pepper, ginger, and tobacco leaf. It’s lively, almost theatrical, think of a cozy fireside scene with a dash of holiday spice. As it transitions, deep vanilla, smoky incense, cocoa, cloves, tonka bean, and star anise emerge. This phase is creamy and gourmand, delivering sweet warmth without crossing into dessert territory. The base settles into a comforting blend of dried fruits, woods, and lingering tobacco. It's rich and enveloping but never heavy. Performance is impressive - this one lasts and projects well, especially when layered with chilly evening air. When comparing it to Tobacco Vanille, the resemblance is unmistakable in the overall vibe: warm, sweet tobacco and vanilla. But here’s where Amber Oud sets itself apart, it emphasizes the spices more heavily, especially clove and cinnamon, making the opening feel more intense and “niche” rather than polished. Some fans of TV might find it a bit louder and less refined, though others appreciate the added oomph. While it isn’t a perfect dupe, the similarities are strong enough that most wouldn’t call it a stretch to say it walks in the same fragrant lane. Pros: Rich and long-lasting - truly a cold-weather beast. Unique spice character - the heavier clove and cinnamon add warmth and intrigue. Great value - similar aura to Tobacco Vanille, but at a far more approachable price. Cons: The spicy opening might feel overwhelming if you prefer smoother or more understated fragrances. Tobacco is more in the background compared to TV’s lush, leafy presence. Bottom Line: If you're drawn to that luxe, amber-vanilla-tobacco profile but want something with more personality and serious longevity, Amber Oud Tobacco Edition is a smart pick. It won’t replace Tobacco Vanille for purists, but for those open to a spicier, slightly edgier take, it’s a rich and rewarding option, especially at its price.

For TF-TV lovers - TV with a touch of honey
My signature scent from 2007 to around 2020 was TF-TV. I had the original older batches before reformulation. I have owned three bottles. When I went to purchase the fourth bottle the scent changed, some of that original magic was gone. Went back to Chanel Anteaus. Because of YT reviews, I decided to try Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco Edition. I really was never a clone fan, almost always the quality was not there, and usually not that close scent wise. When I first got the Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco Edition I sprayed it on a test strip. Then on my wrist to see what I would smell. I had no expectation, I figured for the price I could just throw it in the garbage can if it was crap and unwearable. Well it smelled like crap. Alcohol smell, then a bright synthetic mess with a hint of TF-TV DNA as it transitioned into the dry down. Heavy clove scent, some vanilla, not much tobacco at all, no fruit. Really dark and dense. Researched maceration and maturation of fragrances. I have never had to deal with maceration before. Figured what did I have to lose? Currently unuseable. According to a review I saw, the reviewer mentioned that all of the Al Haramain perfumes needed 15-20 sprays and then let it sit for a week. After the week would start to come into its own. To my surprise she was correct. I did what she said. Went outside, turned bottle upside down and sprayed until nothing more came out, then sprayed around 15 more times. Then packed the bottle back up into the box. Placed the box in a dark closet for a week. The reviewer said that in her experience, all Al Haramain fragrances smell off for the first 15-20 sprays. Today is day 7. I still think it can use further maceration, but wow what a difference. This worked the same for Armaf CDIN Milestone. Now, from the opening, to the transition and to dry down, the scent smells fantastic. No more alcohol in the opening, nothing smells synthetic, now the tobacco shines, with a slight hint of cloves in the background. Can smell the fruitiness and the sweet vanilla like in TF-TV. Now the scent smells and feels rich and luxurious. There is a smooth but not overly done honey mixed with the vanilla. Smells very good, like TV drifting a bit toward Guerlain's Tobacco Honey EDP. I love it. If this develops and matures a bit further that would be amazing. The sprayer is good, no complaints here. I have not tested this properly so cannot judge or rate projection, sillage and longevity. From the test strips, can easily smell the scent 20+ hours later one spray. One spray on my arm still projects past 2', which has now been 3+ hours later. Try CHATGBT and ask "what does Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco Edition smell like after maceration?". CHATGBT gives a lot of info including layering ideas. How close does Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco Edition come to the latest formulation of TF-TV? I would say at this stage they are about 92%-ish the same with the Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco Edition having that not-too-sweet honey blended in. Also a tad clove hint in the background. The end dry-down is a bit more synthetic than TF-TV. From what I have experienced so far I think with longer maceration time the scent will refine more. Lastly, if you would like to check your production date from the batch code, go to: www.checkfresh.com If you are a TF-TV lover, for the price this is a must-try.

Wait, it gets better.
I live this stuff. Has a great presence and can smell hours after. I dont pretend to be an aficionado on colognes, there are many other commentary for that already. But one thing to do is let this sit for a month or so. It does need to be macerated. Read up on it. Especially if this comes off a bit forward sweet smelling. It fellows out after a couple weeks.

Black licorice and Clove bomb. Pass.
This is a spice bomb. Very little tobacco accords. To my nose I get a sweet and woody anise (black licorice) that is heavy on the cloves. It is almost rootbeer-esque upon first spray, then dries down to a spicy cinnamon/clove concoction. It smells like christmas potpourri. I will not be able to wear this on it's own. Maybe if I layer another fragrance, possibly vanilla body oil.. but even then, only at Christmas. If you smell it, you will know what I'm saying. It is not a TF dupe. I don't get Tobacco Vanille at all. If you like Christmas, and super bold in your face Christmas at that.. this might be for you. I am going to give mine away.

No longevity no projection
Won't recommend this as being a clone to TM tobacco vanille. Doenst last long and doesn't project as the original. Smells very synthetic eclair smell in the very beginning. Disaster
