After reading the reviews I was apprehensive.
I think they are the same or as close as possible. How many of you out there were so excited when your favorite mom and pop restaurant built a second location closer to you, only to find yourself making the longer trip back to the original? I think it's part new or different machines/manufacturing process and part nostalgic memory remembering the "good ole days." I heard a famous Food Network chef say the food industry has changed so much in the last ten years, mainly higher in everything bad, that delicious then is now bland today. Also, why is no reviewer remembering that they were pulled from the market? I am assuming it was no longer profitable as most were not buying them. Lastly, I would urge you to remember, this is a snack food and not a delicacy. I really think our attitude towards snacks have changed when you compare the original can size to the super tubs of the generic forms. I'm keeping my Cheez Ball preorder and thank those that are cancelling. Try and get your hands on a single can if your not sure. If your palate doesn't like them, then don't eat them.

Tastes Like Cardboard!
These used to be the best cheese curls ever made! You couldn’t find them for years, I don’t know if they stopped making them, or what, but, I was so excited to see them available again, that I bought 3 containers. I guess I should have read the reviews first. They used to be savory, and loaded with a delicious cheese flavor. Now, they taste flat, stale, and like cardboard. I threw all 3 containers in the trash. Don’t waste your money. Such a disappointment.

A 90's computer girl's impression
This was one of my favorite snacks as a kid. I enjoyed the original far better than Cheetos. It was a tragic day in my childhood when I arrived at the store to learn they were no longer being made.As you can imagine, the day I learned they were bringing them back was joyous. Upon actually receiving the product, I was somewhat disappointed. The cheese (cheez) is somewhat muted. It lacks the pungent smell I can recall vividly from my childhood memories, and the taste is like a shadow of a memory of cheese.I can't really tell if the crunchiness has changed, but these things seem to go stale rather fast, in spite of a tightly-sealed lid. I do live in a different (vastly drier) climate than when I was little, so that could be it.I imagine that some of the original ingredients are no longer used, either due to changing production costs over time and/or health concerns. That said, this is an IMITATION of a much-loved product that has donned the well-known label design of its predecessor. I assure you, the cherished product you and I loved 30 ago has absolutely NOT returned.I implore Planters Co.-- bring the real one back. We don't care if its 50% transfat. We simply don't care. The world is falling apart anyway, let us have this one thing unmitigated by the healthier mindset of your younger employees. Bring the real one back.

Yummy and adictive
Impossible to eat a small portion at a time. Once the can is opened it stays open until they're gone. Crunchy, cheesy and fun to eat. So much better than the others that taste like you're biting into Styrofoam.I sent a case to a friend of mine in NY state. He had the same problem, trying to eat a few at a time. All he wound up doing was putting the lid on, putting the can in the closet, getting up 5 minutes later, taking the can out of the closet and repeating this process until the can was empty. LOL

Of course they are not the same. The Original had Trans Fats
I expected them to be terrible due to the reviews, but I actually like the Cheez Curls. They remind me of the CheezMania Era (Yes, they made them "Cheesier" and more Orange tan the Original at that time too)I had been waiting for so long. At first I tried and said, they are not the same (You can taste the soybean oil now)but they are pretty good and adictive too.You want the old ones? Travel Back in Time!!

Quite Surprised At The Low Quality
I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed as well as surprised when I purchased the Planter's Cheese Curls. I was expecting the product to be the best of quality since PLANTER'S has been a long standing name brand for years but that was NOT AT ALL the case with the cheese curls I ordered.I couldn't believe how stale they were when I bit into them. They weren't fresh at all. To be honest, they really had NO TASTE to them. NO FLAVOR! Just bland and clear. I was quite surprised at the low quality. PLANTER'S has always had a reputation for having quality crisp tasting products whether it was nuts, cheese curls, cheese balls or whatever. I was truly shocked at the results.

I enjoy this product, however.
This item appears to taste a little stale compared to those that I buy from the store

Sadly...nope.
Maybe I wasnt the fine dining expert I am today, but these planters cheese curls are extremely disappointing. The package we received had either already been opened by someone, or was never sealed properly in from the factory (I suspect the later, as an attempt to cut costs these days). The cheese curls were stale the moment we opened the package. Not to mention there was close to zero flavor. Hence we were granted: heavily orange colored, minimally flavored, and moderately chewy "cheese curl"-like snack item.
