Piston Set of 4 with Cylinders and Rings - 85.5mm Standard Bore - 7.7-1 Compression Ratio - Compatible with 1971-1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle 1.6L H4

I am a long time VW builder and I have built many vw engines. I decided to try this piston and cylinder set because it was so inexpensive. First off, the box they come in is very flimsy. Unless this box is handled carefully the contents will likely get damaged. The pistons do not have any marking on the top to know how to place them in the cylinders. All other sets have an arrow on top that points to the flywheel when assembling the engine. Piston rings are not marked as to #1 or #2 position, all 8 say No2 on them (4 are steel color and 4 are black carbon steel color), again, this is not typical. The rings are packaged in a plastic bag and just stuffed between 2 cylinders. I'm guessing that is why 2 of mine were broken. So in conclusion, if I didn't have 2 damaged rings, I would have tried them anyway in a budget buggy build I am doing and taken the chance. Because of the damage, I am sending them back and will not reorder them again. I hope this helps my fellow VDubbers out there.

Items arrived with no packaging whatsoever, just thrown in a box. Great price, but useless when delivered.
