Perfect, healthy food coloring/dye alternative!
These little powders have been so useful for me and the colors are just gorgeous!! Due to mast cell/allergy issues, I have recently had to switch many of my daily medications to those same at a compounding pharmacy. This meant that, between those medications and OTC supplements from healthier suppliers, I had more than half a dozen little white capsules that all looked the same. Sorting my meds into a daily pill calendar became maddening because if any were dropped next to the sorting and found later, they were unidentifiable and, for the same reason, it was a minor nightmare if I needed to skip a pill for any reason. One night I came up with a fun solution - using food coloring to mark the capsules! The only hitch was that I needed to make sure that I was not just adding back ingredients that would potentially trigger symptoms. Ironically, I have rarely used food coloring as an adult despite being an avid baker because I prefer the natural colors of beautiful, healthy natural ingredients. Finding these little jars of magic pixie dust colorants made from exactly that (healthy edible, natural ingredients) was so exciting! Yes, I could find separate ingredients to use similarly but this is a superior solution for me for a few reasons; the little jars can be stored compactly to make a convenient to use and convenient to store coloring kit and the blends of ingredients make a variety of gorgeous colors. The creators have even included tiny spoons so that it is easy to use a small amount of product in a sterile manner. When using these colorants for baking or crafts, they can be mixed directly into the materials that are already being used. For my use in marking the capsules or for using as a food safe ink or paint, my recommendation is to mix with a small amount of vodka! Using small stainless or glass prep bowl, I made separate mixtures of the variety of colors needed, scattered the capsules onto individual glazed ceramic plates, lightly painted spots of the colors onto the capsules using a silicone basting brush, and left the capsules out to dry occasionally turning the cases and separating them to ensure that none became stuck together or to the plates. I used this kit and their other kit with pink, lilac, and red powders. One can even mixed some of the powders to make additional colors. So far, I have mixed the yellow and red to make a brick-red/orange. The end result was both fun and functional and made sorting my pills feel like a mini celebration!

Natural food coloring powder
After many years of using chemical based food colorings, I wanted to go with natural colorings for my holiday baking and chose the Pixie dust colors to color my buttercream frostings. The powders are super fine so you have to take care when opening the little jars that you don’t lose some dust. It takes a good bit of powder to make a deeper shade. The powders can be blended to modify the shades of blue, green, red and yellow. The colors deepened in the buttercream after awhile. I havent used the colors in batters. I didn’t detect any tasted difference from the powders. I followed the instructions to mix the powder with a bit of water and do any blending of colors before adding to my frosting.

Nice fold dye alternative
Worked good for Halloween treats. Colors aren’t bright but that’s what you get when you don’t want to use artificial dyes.

Good color
Color was good but it dried up and became hard clumps

Vibrant colors without the junk — a little goes a long way! 🌈
I’m so impressed with this natural food coloring set! I’ve been trying to avoid artificial dyes in my kitchen, and this plant-based powder worked beautifully without affecting flavor or texture. The colors are vibrant but not overpowering, and the fact that it’s free from carmine, annatto, and synthetic additives is a huge win. So far, I’ve used the red for strawberry bagels and the green for pistachio croissants — both turned out with gorgeous, rich color and no weird aftertaste. A little really goes a long way, so this small set will last me quite a while. I also appreciate that the powders blend easily into both doughs and icings with minimal effort. Highly recommend for anyone who bakes, decorates, or just wants to cut out artificial dyes without sacrificing appearance.

Worth it for better ingredients
For a plant based pigment I am THOROUGHLY impressed. Yes for darker colors you have to use more, but they do not change the flavor at all or the consistency of the frosting! The colors are actually really solid. Very easy to use and mix. It’s a tad pricey but they fill the little jars to the brim so I think it’s worth it to avoid artificial food dyes without compromising consistency or flavor

Do Not Buy
These shouldn’t even get one star and I’m requesting my money bank. There is no pigmentation to these whatsoever. I tried each individual color on its own, and it barely turned to my white frosting a color. Then I poured all four of them and my frosting, and my frosting turned off-white! Do not buy definitely not worth the money and I’m requesting my money back!!!
