My 6-year-old and I really enjoyed this series. The books are about three 9-year-old female cousins who spend a year with their aunt on Cobble Street, who owns a flower shop. Each cousin's personality is well-developed and they are imaginative and active little girls. Over the course of the year, they meet their neighbors (one is 90 and was friends with Eleanor Roosevelt), create a newspaper for their neighborhood, develop a cookie-selling business, and put on performances for friends and family. They enjoy writing poetry, singing, and learning to sew. They have great strategizing sessions. The adults in their lives are kind to them and support their adventures and the girls are kind to each other. I read these aloud to my daughter, though many first and most second-graders could probably read them independently. They are short chapter books, with interesting vocabulary and little black and white illustrations on nearly every page. A sub-plot is that the girls inadvertently act as matchmakers for their aunt and that romance is depicted with a light touch. The man she falls in love with is studying to be a botanist and is gentle, respectful and good with children. Overall, this was a pleasant and fun read!

I love this series which I think is perfect for little girls between 4 and 7 years of age. Wonderful for read aloud time . I bought a set to share with my granddaughter when she is older and a set for my great niece. Very sweet books.

Bought for my preteen 10 year old granddaughter to give her something different and more wholesome than many other "children's" books out there (read the questionable ones yourself first because you never know what writers/publishers are putting in them these days, sometimes not age appropriate by many parents standards). Anyway m gd moaned a little about having to read these but as soon as she got just a few pages into the first book, which she was reading aloud to me, she was enthralled. So much so she finished the first and immediately started book 2. And then she asked me if there were more in the series!! Glad I bought all 6. I love the nostalgia of the setting and was hoping that it would capture her attention and it definitely did! 5 stars for these books. Wish there were more!

My daughters enjoyed these books and now my granddaughter has her own copies. Stories are cute and relatable and easy to read.

Read and reread whole set several times. I sent to a little 7 year old girl. It was new and delightful set for her.

I used to get this series from the library as a kid and they really shaped my childhood. Now that my little cousin is becoming a better reader, I decided to buy them for her birthday. I think she'll really appreciate them

Love this author from the Lighthouse Family series. My 9 year old daughter read this whole series straight through.

Keep in mind these are paperback and thin.But the box set is lovely, still has all the artwork and my kids love them as a read aloud.

I read these to my now adult daughter, when she was in early elementary school. It was a favourite then and now it’s the gift of choice for any friend with young children, or even for a baby shower gift, to wait on the bookshelf until the right time.

We really enjoyed this collection of books. They are tiny! Not proper chapter books -- all of them together add up to one small book -- but they are a lovely collection all the same. Would make a good gift for an early reader who loves cosy reads.
