The most digestible and accessable financial book on the market
This is the book to read if you want to understand our current financial situation and how it's likely to be resolved. It manages to brilliantly condense all the knowledge from multiple other sources into a well researched and readable book, that isn't too much for the average Joe to get to grips with. If you like Bitcoin then you'll love this book, but if you've no idea what the hell is going on in the world right now then you need this book!

Once you know, you can't un-know!
Lawrence Lepard writes an engaging and accessible account of WHY money is broken, why it hurts regular people, and how we might solve that. Painting the picture before jumping into solutions (second half of book) is clever. Once you've read the first section you can't ever unknow it: money is broken. It's like choosing the red pill. You will want to seek out solutions. Lepard presents the historical context as optional chapters for further reading, but I found them fascinating. I was blown away by the revelation that great men, for hundreds of years before us, spoke in defence of sound money and against the dangers of the fiat system and fractional reserves we now consider normal and civilised. It is scarily prescient.

The Big Print is a Must Read
A superb book that digs deep into the fiat system and why it doesn’t work and how inflation, debasement and fractional reserve banking is destroying the quality of life for anyone who isn’t close to the money printer, or owns significant assets. Larry has simplified highly complex topics in a smart, practical and enjoyable way. Compelling read and highly recommended for anyone wondering why they have too much month at the end of the money and what they can do about it.

An optimistic outlook on what is a concerning global situation!
My expectations weren't too high but this book was surprisingly well written. It was informative and entertaining in the way it described what is in fact the rather concerning position we find ourselves in as a globe. The author clearly has a positive view for the future and the book brings the reader optimism and hope to the situation in which the world is currently in. Highly recommended reading for anyone interested in finance, money and history!

Do you feel “a splinter in your mind”?
Do you sense that something is wrong? This book explains the problem that causes that feeling. Our money is broken which means every system that relies on money (pretty much everything) is also broken. Then it gives the solution - sound money. Money that can’t be printed by central banks with a key stroke. Money that is backed by something. This book teaches you where to find the tweezers that will remove the splinter.

In this highly accessible book about the history of money & economics, Larry Lepard eloquently and gracefully makes the case for a return to a sound money system. Before the book came out, I heard the author speak at several bitcoin conferences. So I knew I wanted to read it. Larry is a clear and endearing storyteller who makes economic and financial concepts easy to understand. This serves well his ultimate argument that we must reform our corrupt monetary system controlled by central banks (primarily The Federal Reserve). He does this by weaving historical facts with compelling quotes, charts and data tables that prove our monetary system has been rigged our entire lives and puts us in a state of perpetual serfdom. His research is conveniently footnoted at the bottom of the page, rather than at the end of the book which made for deeper reading, if one chooses. I have a feeling I will be frequently reaching for this book to reference many of facts presented to back up the sound money argument. On top of the great academic and historical lessons in the book, Larry weaves in stories of own family's struggle and scarring from a monetary system beyond their control, as he grew up in a once great manufacturing base in the upper Midwest of America. His stories from having a front row seat at the microprocessor (1980's) and Internet (1990's) revolutions are worth reading just by themselves. Although Larry has been very successful as an investment advisor managing his and other people's monies, he has had his share of bad calls along the way which have tempered him and his writing style with grace and humility. This book demonstrates he knows the value of money and that there are things in life more important than money. Upon finishing the book, not only do I feel more educated about monetary history, the importance of sound money, the wickedness of inflation and the hope of Bitcoin, I feel like a friend to Larry even though we've never met. This makes the book a remarkable and accessible history of recent economic events that is really a personal tale about what led him to value hard money for himself and the World.

One of the best books I’ve read on the subject, right up with The Bitcoin Standard.

Fast paced. This book is ‘to the point’ concise and doesn’t beat around the bush. Easy read for all ages from a high schooler to your grand ma. You do not need a financial degree to understand this book. The Author has done a phenomenal job explaining some complex stuff in lay man’s language. I had to get the kindle version since the shipping fee for the physical copy exceeds the cost of the book itself, however I will get my hands on the physical copy soon, this ones for the shelf.

Valuable information overall, but the editing could have been more polished. There are some repetitions, sometimes even on the same page, as if the concepts are being introduced for the first time each time. A few passages feels a bit too AI-ish in the form. Nothing too problematic, and still a precious resource, but stronger editorial work would have been a better text.
