Era La Vispera de Navidad (Twas The Night Before Christmas, Spanish Edition)

We have the picture book illustrated by Charles Santore in English (beautiful), but the Spanish translation of that one is way too complex. This version uses language that is much easier for a child to understand. It still rhymes nicely and captures the spirit of each verse of the original. The illustrations are great! My 2 year old loves this book and I can see her enjoying this for many years to come.

I really like the rhyming and translation of the book. Very well done. Yet, I cringe just a little because there are no people of color mixed in. The characters, the dolls, the angel ornaments on the trees, the portrait on the wall...everyone was just blonde and white. Which is fine. One side of my family is Irish. But the other half is Mexican. My daughter is half Mexican, half Nigerian. We need more and more inclusivity so they can see themselves in stories. I would have been happy if just one thing was different be that the ornaments, one of the dolls, something.

It’s so hard to find a book translated to Spanish from English that rhymes! The drawings are fun and engaging for my 4 year old. Very pleased with this book!

My son is a fluent Spanish-speaker who is determined that his children will also speak Spanish. Thus, when he reads to my 3-year old grandson, it is always in Spanish. My grandson is into Christmas stories right now, no matter that it is the middle of summer. I bought this and took it to him on a recent visit. He loves the book whether his father is reading it in Spanish or his grandmother is telling him the story in English while we look at the wonderful pictures. Rudolph wasn't in the original story as I recall it, but my grandson cares not the least about that. Loves the book and story, no matter which language.

I have purchased a copy in Spanish and in English to give to my bi-lingual grandchild this Christmas. Charming! Yes, the story has been edited slightly so that Santa no longer smokes, but it has been done gently and tactfully. Would I have preferred it not be tinkered with? Yes. However, the trade-off was the illustrations. Absolutely charming! Love it that an adorable little mouse seems to be living in harmony with the family cat. And yes, one of the reindeer has a "slightly" red nose. Watch for these subtle details. Very happy with this purchase.

We are a bilingual household and got this in English and Spanish. We loved it and plan to have this be a Christmas Eve tradition for years to come

Estaba buscando un libro con algún mensaje navideño o moraleja y este libro no era lo que esperaba. No contiene mensaje ni habla de valores.No lo recomiendo

Un libro clásico precioso que debería estar en la biblioteca de cualquier niño.Tiene unas ilustraciones preciosas, y la traducción al castellano es buena.

Le gustó a mi hija y leersela se volverá, sin duda, una costumbre navideña.
