I don't understand the "w/o my neighbor's dog?". If you're asking whether a 20 lb dog would fit in the smaller size casket: probably not. I'd recommend opting for the larger size. But call the company. The person who filled our order was extraordinarily kind.

Q: How thick is the wood? as in, how thick will the walls of the coffin be?

The cedar planks are about 1/2 inch thick. Yes it is real cedar, not particle board. Thanks for asking.

Hi Nancy JaneWhen I purchased this Pet Coffin Casket we needed it quickly. I emailed Steve's Gift Shoppe to request expedited shipment. I received a reply from Warren, who stated that I would receive the exact item shown in the photo. The workmanship was of good quality, but fyi, it is unfinished wood as I recall. I would make the same purchase again, if/when needed. I recommend you contact the seller, perhaps they can assist you with the details. We placed our beautiful Maine Coon wrapped in a small blanket inside. I am sorry for your need of this item. Nancy

Hello Tony: Thank you for writing. I have a number of different sized U-Build kits. The most popular size is 18 x 10 x 6 (for petite size cats). For larger cats or small dogs, 18 x 15 might be a better fit. I also make one that is 23 x 15. Many average-size male cats are about 18 inches length (not counting the tail). So, the 23-inch might be a better fit. Keep in mind that the cedar has a mateiral thickness of about a half inch. So, for example, if the pet coffin is 18 x 10 x 6, then inside dimensions will be 17 x 9 x 5 inches. I hope this information is helpful and if you have more questions, please write again. Very nice small dog coffin that's easy to assemble. Instruction pamphlet represented larger unit, called the number provided and confirmed we had the smaller unit.
