Choo chooooo! Weeeeeeeeeeee
The media could not be loaded. TRAIN! It's a Lego train, and if you like Legos, and/or trains, this is fun. It was fairly easy to build. Says 6+, a 6 or 7 year old may need a hand, but I can still see them able to do it with limited help. The instructions are very easy to follow, and the bags of pieces numbered. Each page only adds a few pieces, and uses clear pictures to guide you step by step. The motors have a good amount of power, and 10 settings for power/speed. If you crank it to 10, it is fast enough to derail itself around a bend, so I'm happy with the way these perform. While I do think Legos are pricey, they do make top quality products, and their customer support has been fantastic for as long as I can remember. Very very rarely have I ever had any missing or broken pieces, and they've never given me hassle when I brought an issue to them.If you watched the video, you'll notice I bought 2, and combined them. Neither set was missing a single piece, and as usual, had some extras. It is possible, and easy, to sync multiple "engines" to a single remote.

Son loved it!
This is an excellent train set. Fun to build with my son and the quality is out of this world.

Probably coolest lego train out there
My son waited for 2 years for this train ( to be 6) and he was over the moon to get it for his birthday. The train took 2 adults and a 6 year old a couple hours to fully put together. The train speeds are ridiculously fast, as in I don't see why anyone would need a lego train to go that fast. If you speed it up too much the train will fly off the tracks, but if you stay at a normal speed it stays on the track well. It does require an insane amount of AAA batteries (10 total, 6 for the train alone). We have already had to replace the batteries twice in a matter of 2 weeks. I would suggest investing in rechargeable batteries to save money. The price of this train is also very good ( or it was when we bought it for under $150). Our 4 year old is also obsessed with the train and its simplicity to put on tracks and drive.

Buy the extra track 60205
I bought lego city 60197 passenger train for around the Christmas tree this year. I bought the 60205 track package as well (which came at a slight discount if buying them at the same time). Soooo happy I bought the spare track. The track is mounted on a 3/4" piece of 4'x4' plywood, measured off 16" from a corner on two sides and cut an arc between the two, to make sure we wouldn't stub toes on a hard corner sticking outinto the living room. Painted with some dark green spray paint. The result is a very irregular shape track that sticks out far eough from the base of the tree to be enjoyed without being trampled on. The spare track pack 60205 was absolutely necessary in my case. And now i have a lego train project to enjoy building with my boys for the next couple weeks leading to the holiday.

Great Value, Great Set
This is one of my favorite LEGO sets I can think of! The train took a ‘whopping’ hour and a half to assemble, and I took some time to arrange the tracks...so about two hours to set up. Remember, you need a lot of AAA batteries for this set, so keep this in mind when building it. I’m surprised that I haven’t had to refill the batteries yet 🤷♀️. The train itself has a pretty sleek and modern design that makes it way cooler than all of the trains I’ve ever seen in real life. It’s more like a high speed monorail, to be honest. The mini figures included were the only thing I didn’t like about it. They were just...average. I don’t think there were any new pieces, nor rare ones, as far as the minifigures. But, overall, this set was great.

Easy for 6 year old
The media could not be loaded. This took my 6 year old about 2.5 hours to build all by himself. He is good at Legos in general. He loved putting it together. It does take a lot of batteries. 7AAAs in total. Like most other Lego sets, it's well designed. Comes with a small train station, as you might be able to see in the video. The train can move at different speeds, the fastest of which is pretty fast! We bought an extra set of tracks. We might need more!

All aboard!
The media could not be loaded. So... if there was a 3.5 stars, I probably would have selected that score for my overall rating.I'm still trying to determine how I feel about this LEGO train set, so I may revisit this review in the future after I've had more time to use and evaluate the overall set.A few positives to get this review started:- It's a LEGO train... which means you're all but guaranteed to have fun and the young bricker in your house will love it. I mean, seriously, how can you go wrong with a LEGO train that functions and operates?- The train itself looks great... the dark blue coloring with yellow really pops and is a significant improvement over the previous passenger train.- The new train system has two different options for operation... you can operate the train with the remote that comes with the set, or you can download the 'Powered Up' app by LEGO for free to control the train via your mobile device. When you download the app and operate the train via your phone/device, you get a series of sounds that you can use via your phone's speakers while operating the train. The process of downloading the app and connecting the train via bluetooth to your phone/device was fairly easy and didn't take much time.- The new 'Powered Up' app leaves a lot of growth potential for the future and I can only imagine what LEGO comes up with for increased playability and functionality in the future.A few areas of consideration:- The cost for a set this size is a touch high in my opinion... there are lots of larger LEGO pieces and train functions which command a higher price, but the amount of track you receive and the overall piece count are on the lower end.- The detail on the inside of the train (in all three sections) is rather limited and underwhelming. Sure, if more would have been included, the price may have gone even higher, but be forewarned, there's not a lot happening on the inside.- The amount of track gives you a basic circle... once again, I know it would probably increase the price, but more track would have been a nice touch.- The new bluetooth system for controlling the train is much different than previous systems for train operation. If you are accustomed to using the previous system, you'll find the new system much different and thus far, I would say more cumbersome and less user-friendly. The remote control feature takes a few seconds to actually connect to the train before use. Batteries... you'll need 10 AAA batteries to get this train going (better start stocking up on batteries now).- The 'Powered Up' app seems to work well, but I'm somewhat disappointed in how quickly it loses the connection if you stop using the train for a few minutes. I'm also concerned that the speed of the train seems to function differently from the app on your phone/device than it does via the remote control. This may be something I'm doing incorrectly on my end, but there seems to be something off. The sound functions that are available via the app are a great addition and without a doubt increase the level of fun and playability with this set. I can only hope there will be added features in the future as LEGO expands the possibilities via the Powered Up app.- The small train station is really underwhelming and adds a small amount of additional playability.Overall, I like this set, but I'm still on the fence with exactly how much I like this set. It's good, but it's not amazing. Now, perhaps after more use I will come around and my enthusiasm toward the set will increase, but right now, I have a slight hesitation and skepticism.Would I make this purchase again... yes, however, I'd probably look for a reduced price and I would measure my excitement if I'm familiar with the previous LEGO train systems. If this is your first LEGO train set, then I have no doubt you'll be pleased and excited.Hopefully you found this review helpful. If so, please let me know below. If you have any questions, don't hesitate. Also, be sure to check out my other LEGO reviews.Happy bricking!
