My goal was to replace a small propane grill we use in the RV. It's small but we needed smaller. I wanted something portable, foldable, stainless and bagged. This promised to be all that. We took it with us and used it effectively in two 'wheel hub' fire rings of different sizes. Then, we used it on the ground over a pile of charcoal. This thing is sturdy, the legs come off for complete cleaning. It's simple as hell and packs in a small vinyl briefcase pouch that zips shut. I read reviews about chemical pouch smells....not for me..and who cares?! it's the grill that matters and that grate is simply GREAT. If you are looking for something super small and packable that adapts to any fire situation for cooking ... this is it. FYI - the pouch smells like fire and charcoal if you burn off and dump a dirty grate into it ... but keeps everything CLEAN next to it. Again, who cares? It's not for backpacking ... a bit too large. You can fit two large steaks and potatoes on it. We cooked 7 alum foil fish packets on it at the beach. I thought the legs falling off was a problem until I realized it made cleaning easier and the whole grate so simple it will NEVER break.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have a 24" steel grill to throw over fire rings when camping with a crowd, wanted something smaller and stainless - look how many products here are painted and sort of fine-print that they're just for pots and pans? Or burn off the toxic paint and then you'll have rust. This is stainless and cleans up pretty well. It's really very sturdy and folds up to a compact size. I like the adjustable height, you can get a bed of coals going and get this close to the fire for hot searing. The bag seems OK, but you're probably not gonna stick this in the bag before getting home and giving it a serious scrub, but good for storage. I just wrap this in a towel to get it home. My only issue is the legs can fold very easily if you try to move the grill and push it a bit. Something to get used to that could be a bit of a disaster... I'd say a bit of a design flaw, but for the price and utility of this thing, I think it's a great value.
