Everything is ok, good product
A good product, it works well both in the kitchen as a gelling ingredient for prepared dishes, but I also use it in cosmetics myself, using it for hair and skin masks and conditioners. I will definitely buy again

Good quality alginate
This sodium alginate powder is food grade, which is useful to make edible popping pearls or edible vegetarian caviars that allows the liquid to form a layer of membrane when in contact with calcium ions as it solidifies rapidly forming a protective barriers.

A great cooking tool
Sodium alginate powder is a fascinating ingredient for adventurous cooks and food scientists. Its ability to create gel textures and perform spherification makes it a darling of molecular gastronomy. When used correctly, it can transform liquids into elegant pearls or encapsulated spheres that burst in the mouth—pure culinary theater. But it’s not exactly beginner-friendly. The learning curve is steep: it requires precise calcium interaction, careful pH balance, and often a second ingredient like calcium lactate to work properly. Missteps can lead to rubbery textures or failed gels. Plus, it’s not something most home cooks will reach for regularly unless they’re deep into experimental cuisine. A solid choice for professionals or curious hobbyists, but not essential for everyday cooking.

Step one of molecular gastronomy spherification.
If you use this for molecular gastronomy, it will last a long time. If you are making mock caviar or grape size spheres, this is the gelling agent. You mix your liquid or puree with 0.5g of powder per 100g of that main ingredient. Ideally you would use a stick blender to make sure it is completely absorbed. Let the bubbles settled and you are ready from the next stage ... calcium lactate bath. There are plenty of helpful videos on YouTube which will take you through the process and maybe inspire you to go further in your journey with molecular gastronomy.

sodium algenate powder
This sodium alginate powder is just as expected and I’m very pleased with the results I’ve been getting. I use it as a thickening agent with dyes for textile painting and it is performing exactly the same a more expensive brand I have been using previously. I also see that it can be used in food as a thickening agent so I’m planing on experimenting with it for making home made ice-cream. The powder was well packaged with a long use by date and product information on the carton.

Got this for making a solution for acid reflux. Took a few tries to get the consistency I want. Much cheaper solution then getting the brand name stuff.
