We have super hard water. The water softener wasn't working when we bought the house. We found out quickly we needed to do something. I kept seeing the descalers but I didn't know if they would really work. We fixed the water softener and that helped some but it isn't hooked up to the kitchen so my main appliances, fridge, washer, dishwasher weren't getting the softened water still. I was afraid they would corrode. I looked at descalers again and saw this one. I'm totally a fan of Mike Holmes and his shows on TV. This product was actually less expensive than others so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! The instructions let you know it's not an overnight fix and gives you a timeline. We saw improvement in a couple days and it just gets better and better. Well worth the investment. I'm not sure how it would work completely by itself but the water softener wasn't fixing the problem by itself. We are super happy with the results in the showers with both. It seems to be helping in the kitchen and as I mentioned, the softened water doesn't go to the kitchen. We might get brave at some point and nix the softener and try just the descaler, but for now we are using both. 100% satisfied and highly recommend!!!!!Update: the product says it takes awhile to get the full effect. As stated we did get some results we are getting even better results now! I scrubbed the scale off my shower and it has stayed clean! Such a great product! We were skeptical for sure, but it’s worth every penny!

with skepticism I ordered this - our hard water was building up on everything, shower doors, laundry, my hair & the tap water just didn't taste that good.I ordered this as I really like Holmes on Homes & if he recommends it - well, it is worth a try. I really can't believe the difference. The water is softer, smells & tastes better & after cleaning my shower doors with CLR initially - THEY HAVE STAYED CLEAN - no buildup, no spots - i find CLR especially toxic & I am happy to not have to use that anymore for cleaning.

Can't rate it. I haven't had it long enough to see the results. But it came when they said it would.

I have very hard well water, which leaves white spots everywhere and grows crystals in my faucets. I wanted to test if magnetic/electronic de-scaling actually works so I bought the cheapest one and was shocked by how well it worked. Dishes dried spotless. Soap lather improved. But the cheap unit failed after a couple of months so I bought this more expensive model. It just doesn't do the job. White crud is back and soap won't make suds. The effective until was 12v DC. This unit works on AC. What I know about magnets makes me question using AC. This unit is a total waste, maybe descaling a little bit, but not much. Buy a DC powered unit instead.

It works while the water is running. It will not magically remove heavy sediments from your water, it just binds them in the running water. I most noticed it's effectiveness with the washing machine (detergent suds more) and in the shower (hair feels better). Spend 4 seconds drying your chrome fixtures to avoid hard water spots and the you're all set.

I've had this installed at my house for about 4 months now. Within the first 30 days I noticed my garbage disposal would coast down a lot longer after turning it off. I can only speculate that this ScaleSweeper dislodged some scale buildup that was caked onto the garbage disposal blades or something. I also noticed within the first 60 days that when we turn on the hot water, the faucets get hot a lot faster than they used to, in roughly half the time. We have also seen less soap scum and lime scale in our sinks and bathtubs. Where we live, the water is very hard. Also, our house is very old (built in 1925), so the galvanized plumbing has roughly 95 years of use. To me, the ScaleSweeper is just cheap preventative maintenance for our old house plumbing. Our fixtures work a little better than they did before, and this unit appears to do what it claims to do. As far as I'm concerned, it's just cheap insurance against scale-buildup related problems in the future.
