The Best Manics Album - now even Better
It divides opinion amongst the more casual fans, and those who discovered the Manics around the time of Everything Must Go may find this an even tougher listen than the rest of us. This is the Manics' darkest album, and in my opinion their best. I always found the sound of the CD a little flat and tinny - which I assumed was an artistic decision based on the lyrics and the claustrophobic surroundings in which the album was recorded. This vinyl remaster, though, sounds amazing. The bass is deeper, the guitars cut through even better and James's voice is still cold and distant but perfectly balanced in the mix. This is how I always imagined the album should sound, and I love it even more than ever.

Superb
This is phenomenal. I feel very stupid for not taking the time to buy any Manics Albums over the years. I always thought their songs were brilliant when I heard them but never got around to it. (Much gnashing of teeth). Now I want to get all their albums. I always feel it's such a shame when people don't appreciate Artists quickly enough and I am one of those daft people.Everything about them is super brilliant, from James' unique singing voice, the way he fits lyrics into a tune almost sounds like a new language. I actually used to think he was singing in Welsh (and I'm Welsh!) and managing to make it sound cool. The amazing tunes that he weaves around Richie & Nicky's intelligent and sublime lyrics and Sean's flawless drumming & trumpet playing just make them the perfect Group. Why have I wasted so much time not listening to them?! Don't make my mistake. Buy this, it's Awesome.

A tortured classic from 1994
Generally regarded as the Manics' finest hour, 'The Holy Bible' is a very dark album reflecting Richey Edwards descent into extreme depression, self-harm and alcoholism and, given that he wrote around 70% of the lyrics, this is pretty harrowing stuff if you try to analyse the 13 tracks too closely. However, for the most part, this is a brilliant collection of hard rock songs including 'Yes', 'Archives Of Pain', the excellent 'Mausoleum' and a clutch of decent singles - 'Revol', 'Faster', 'PCP' and the classy mid-pace 'She Is Suffering'. '4st 7lb' is a thoughtful, slower track and 'Of Walking Abortion' is superb as well. 'The Intense Humming Of Evil' is the most atmospheric piece on show here with some great drumming from Sean Moore; indeed there is barely a weak point in the whole project. Highly recommended.

Raw & edgey
I love the raw & aggressive sound of this album and the tinny sound recording texture only adds to the punky sound. Great songs, guitars, bass & innovative drum sounds are found throughout. Highlights : 'Of walking abortion', 'Archives of pain', 'Mausoleum' & 'Faster'.

A very special album
The best album of the 1990s and probably of the last 25 years , no band has done anything like before or since sounds more relevant now than when it first came out . Just hope the maniacs will do a holy bible tour again , so I can see the songs performed live . Highly recommend I never get bored of this album it's truly unique, gets better with time sign of a classic album
