Stone (ie., white marble) is naturally porous; buy food-grade mineral oil.
I'm writing this review only b/c I see a handful of 1-star reviews from people who apparently only buy products dipped in plastic or other sealants... and immediately complained when they carelessly stained their new white spoon rest. It's stone, people. Goodness gracious... buy some cheap food-grade mineral oil and rub it into every stone and wood product you own. It'll prevent stains and make your products last longer. Naturally porous materials (i.e., like white marble and acacia wood) will stain easily. If you fill those pores with red chorizo liquid or other dark liquids, you'll have a hard time getting it out. So plug up those pores, yeah? You should be treating your wood cutting boards and other stone products—at least a couple times a year—with mineral oil. . . . . My only surprise when buying this product (white marble spoon rest) was that it was larger than expected. Serves me right for not reading the description. It looks nice and it fits well in my kitchen, size-wise.

Beautiful spoon rest
Love my spoon rest. It is not take up a lot of room as I do not like clutter on my counter-tops.

Heavy and Big but still Pretty
I noticed in some of the reviews they mentioned the wood was poor quality. Mine was ok, but then I hand washed it and it got really dried out. I rubbed some olive oil on the acacia wood part and it brought it back to a natural wood color. The marble surface is bigger than expected but it's still a sturdy nice spoon rest. This was a gift so I didn't want to return it and I made it work for me. This is heavier because of the marble so I had a little trouble hand washing it since I use dish gloves. Overall, I liked it enough to keep.

Larger then expected
Great spoon rest, I am obsessed with white marble, it’s exactly what I was looking for. It is much larger then I thought, though. You can easily place a large ladle or other serving utensils on it and still have leftover room for another. I would also recommend hand washing, it has a wood end (bamboo maybe) that I don’t think would do well in the high heat of a dishwasher.

Do Not Recommend
This spoon rest stained after the very first use. I set a wooden spoon on it that had just stirred chorizo and the orange oil stain will not come off. Also, it is twice as big as I was expecting! My fault for not checking the dimensions...If you cook, do not get this. It is not practical. If you are looking for something decorative, I guess I would give it 3 stars.

It's a great kitchen utensil holder
This thing weighs enough so you don't need to worry about it sliding on your counter. It is VERY large so just know that it will need a little space on your counter or oven. We cook a lot and it's very handy being able to rest multiple utensils on it at once.Cleans very easy and seems very sturdy.

Looks like it had been well used
I had purchased one of these spoon rests for my sister a few months ago and it was beautiful. And now I bought another one for the house I’m living in and the one that arrived today looked like it had been well used. The finish on the wood was terrible And the felt that was supposed to be on the bottom was missing and replaced with some rubber feet. I’m hoping this was just an anomaly and I’m going to order another one after sending this one back.Updating my earlier review now; since I had purchased one of these a year and a half ago, which was awesome. I wanted to provide the same thing in my new home. The first one had poor workmanship, and now the second one arrived and the marble isn’t sealed. Now, marble is a very porous stone and anything that drips off your spoon is going to permeate the marble and be basically impossible to remove. I used it one day and I am returning it. Will be looking for another solution. It’s a shame because this is a good looking kitchen accessory that should be more functional.

A case of "form" over "function"
This spoon rest if very beautiful, and very large. It's size is exactly what I was looking for when cooking with large utensils.Unfortunately it fails it's BASIC purpose of being a spoon rest, as it stains INCREDIBLY easily with the most common of cooking components (i.e. oil, red sauce, etc). I places a spoon there for not even a full minute, and cleaned the spoon rest afterwards, and it still managed to get a noticeable stain.I've since tried removing the stain with vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and Oxiclean, all to no avail. If a product fails to fulfil it's primary function, then it is useless.Another reviewer says it's unreasonable to be upset about the stains, and that we should treat the product with mineral oil prior to use. I wholeheartedly disagree. If a product needs this treatment to even fulfil its primary function, then it should#1: Be advertised as such in a way that can't be missed#2: Come already with said treatment.Every wooden cutting board I've purchased has come pre-treated with mineral oil for this exact reason. The same should apply here.
