I used this device briefly as my main router as my ISP hadn't yet shipped their own brand router before my internet was upgraded to fibre. I now use it as a reliable access point to extend the range of my network for 4k streaming, light gaming, and general web browsing. Setting this thing up was really simple. I'm pretty knowledgeable with tech, but I don't think I'd have much trouble if I had less experience. To use this with fibre to the property connections, you have to change the router settings to PPPoE and use login details specific to your ISP. (Search for 'PPPoE login BT/Sky/Plusnet/EE...). The web interface is remarkably simple and modern so poses no problems! Once my ISP router arrived, I switched this over to access point mode to reach some dead spots in my flat. Again, really simple to do with one button in the web client. Devices connect seamlessly and quickly. This router has been incredibly reliable, being consistent on delivering 500Mbps speeds. The range is good, but no improvement over the one I have from Plusnet. If you're looking to buy this to extend the range of your WiFi, you won't see much difference if you have anything from the past few years. One minor complaint is the shiny black plastic on top which is a nightmare for dust and scratches. This is, however, a great value for money buy for those looking for an access point, or upgrading anything that caps out at 100Mbps!

I originally had the TP-Link AC5400 MU-MIMO Tri-Band Gaming Router, which has been really good since I bought it in 2018. This is a really excellent Router, however technology grows and with that new standards. I and my family noticed connection issues with Wireless devices. So, I got the BE550. Setup was extremely easy using the quick start, the signal strength is for me is extremely good hitting all devices I need in and out for the house. I also like in the TP-Link app (Tether) or web browser (192.168.0.1) the options available, I've now created a MLO wifi for devices it supports. What I don't like is some cool features I previously had on my AC5400 are subscription based but you don't need them. 1 star dropped for the subscription to get more money out of people.

I have been using this TP-Link Archer BE550 Tri-Band BE9300 WiFi 7 Router, for 15 months and have experienced zero issues. It has been a massive improvement over my previous routers (Google Nest Wifi Mesh and Asus). Coverage and Reliability (5/5) Superior Coverage: Compared to my previous Google Nest Mesh system, this device offers significantly better coverage, particularly reaching challenging spots at the back of my house. Rock-Solid Stability: I previously dealt with my routers randomly freezing or rebooting (the Asus required a physical reboot, while the Google router would reboot itself). This TP-Link system has remained completely stable, offering uninterrupted service. Handling High-Capacity & Smart Devices (5/5) Robust Device Management: I have numerous smart WiFi devices, some of which are budget-friendly products that frequently "ping" the server. These devices often overloaded my previous hardware. The TP-Link system handles this heavy device load effortlessly with no performance degradation. Enhanced Security: A standout feature is the ability to place these Smart Devices onto their own isolated network. This segmentation ensures they cannot "see" my primary devices (like my PC), which is a huge benefit for security-conscious users. I upgraded from a TP-Link Archer AX73 to this BE550, expecting better speeds and wider Wi-Fi coverage. The specs suggest it should be incredible: Wi-Fi 7, up to 9214 Mbps, and a 2.5Gbps port and LAN ports. But in real-world use, it’s honestly been a letdown. The key difference is the antennas: The BE550 has internal/hidden antennas, whereas the AX73 has six proper external high-gain antennas. And that matters. A lot. In my house (Victorian walls, two floors), the AX73 delivers strong, stable Wi-Fi everywhere — upstairs, downstairs, even into the garden. But the BE550 really struggled. Coverage dropped off sharply after just one or two rooms, speeds became inconsistent, and devices would occasionally disconnect. It feels like this router was designed for a small apartment or studio space, not an actual home with brick walls. (I barely got 20mbps on my phone and maybe 55mbps on macbook) After a couple of frustrating days, I’ve boxed the BE550 and instead ordered the Archer AX72 Pro, which has Wi-Fi 6 + a 2.5Gbps port — and if it performs anything like the AX73, it’ll be a far better fit for a full house. Pros: ✅ 2.5Gbps WAN/LAN for faster internet backhaul ✅ Clean, minimal design ✅ Easy setup Cons: ❌ Internal antennas = noticeably weaker range ❌ Struggles through real-world walls ❌ Worse performance than cheaper TP-Link models ❌ Not suitable for house-sized coverage Verdict: If you live in a flat or open-plan apartment, this might be fine. But for a house, especially with solid walls, stick to the Archer AX series (AX72 Pro / AX73 / AX5400 range). They simply perform better where it matters. Sometimes the newest isn’t the best — and in this case, the “upgrade” was actually a downgrade.

Been having so many issues with the wi-fi on this router compared to my old router. It drops out regularly, will drop speeds to a crawl for no reason. A lot of the time, the wi-fi is just unusable at all, even for simple stuff like browsing the web or social media. Even devices connected via ethernet cables aren't immune to the slow down. I've contacted support multiple times, tried various different beta and full release software, and applied all tweaks that support suggest and nothing has fixed the issues, and they're only getting worse as time goes on Update Dec 2025 The router seems to be OK now after more updates, and many hours spent factory resetting it and rebooting it. Speeds are pretty decent now on WiFi, not had any connection issues as of the latest updates.

I have suffered with WiFi issues since I recently moved into a rented flat. I went with NOW Broadband as my partner was with them living in the same area and had no issues with them. First few days were great with no issues then started to have connection dropouts, losing a bar of WiFi signal leaving the living room where the hub was etc. Phoned NOW 3 times, replaced the hub, sent an engineer out who supposedly replaced a contactor in the box outside, gave me money off my bill to buy a booster, nothing worked. I found this item as it had great reviews. I thought why not. I thought this replaced my NOW hub but it doesn’t. You keep your internet set up the way it is and this item is connected to your hub via an ethernet cable. You then connect your devices to this router and you should get all green lights. Initially I had green lights but no internet connection. I panicked thinking it wasn’t going to work with my WiFi. However on the instructions there is details of a website to troubleshoot and eventually it done a firmware upgrade on my phone for the router which took a few minutes. This is all easy to do so do not worry if you’re not tech minded, either am I. After the firmware upgraded, everything was sorted. I had internet. The next thing was to test if it had improved my speed. My NOW hub was situated in the living room and when lying in bed I would only ever get 2 bars of WiFi on my iPhone and videos would rarely load. After I was connected to the TP router I went through and it did drop to 2 bars but then straight away went back up to 3. I done 2 speed tests (see photo above). The bottom one is connected to the TP router and the top one is connected to the NOW hub. It’s almost double the speed. That’s another thing, because you need both your normal broadband and this router set up, you can just switch between the 2 if you want too. I have the Tether app which again it tells how to install in the instructions and I can now control my devices etc. It’s really easy to use and you can customise your settings to your preference. To conclude I was initially skeptical that this would work with NOW but it did and has improved my connection massively. If you’re thinking about it, just do it. Hope this helps anyone who was confused like I was before buying.
