Great for my 11 year old
Easy to clean, enough space for food for my 11 year old , easy access. Food stays warm as per my daughter. Never used it for cold stuff yet. Like the design and love the fact it is "green" and non toxic. It is a grown up design which my tween likes. One dislike - it is heavy. My daughter's backpack is already heavy so this is additional weight to it. But I would still recommend this to others.

This is a joke. get Thermos.
I was looking for a food jar for my kindergartener, something simple, easy to use. i bought this because the opening is low and wide so seemed easy to use for kid.First of all, it doesn't keep the food warm until their lunch time. I pack the lunch right before leaving home, and the lunch time is about 3 hrs later. My kid keep complaining about the food not warm enough, and I found it true when I tried it. This just cannot be considered as thermal.Second, it was not easy to close the lid properly - the spiral line gets twisted sometimes, and the kindergartener And even the teacher couldn't close the lid tight so that it doesn't leak. This is just waste of money and I had to buy a substitute - Thermos Funtainer. The opening is higher and narrower but seems to keep the food warmer. Some other types like Ms Bento should be much better to keep food even warmer, but probably too complicated for a kid.

Good Purchase but Leaks!
All in all this is a good product. I am not sure that I would purchase it again for a few reasons. You have to be very careful to not turn the lid too much or too little. The spot is marked for you on the container, but if you do not quite hit that spot it will leak and if you surpass the spot, it will be stuck shut. I feel comfortable keeping my yogurt lunch in this container without refrigeration during the day, and it will keep things warm as well. The lunchbot is _not_ dishwasher safe, but it cleans fairly easily.Update (5/21/13): This product leaks regardless of how loose or tight the lid is if you are putting something completely liquid (like soup) in the container. Granted, I was carrying my lunch around with me during the day in the bag, so the container was getting tossed around a little bit, but the leaking is very aggravating.

Not the lunch solution I was hoping for -- (See UPDATE)
I like to bring home-cooked food in to work, and I don't like dealing with microwaving in the office kitchen. This seemed like a great solution. It turned out to be kind of a "meh" solution. It's got some good points: It's sturdy and it keeps a seal very well (too well -- see below). The bowl shape is convenient -- though it's not really bowl-shaped (no curved bottom); it's more cylinder-shaped. And it does hold a decent amount of food -- 16 oz capacity is generally sufficient, though if your food is irregularly shaped, like chicken cutlets, you may find it's not quite spacious enough. But I was disappointed in several aspects of this item. First, even though I follow the instructions, my blazing hot food is lukewarm by noon. (The instructions are to warm the container with boiling water for several minutes before putting food in, and put the food in while it's still piping hot.) I have been bringing in solid food like chicken cutlets and sausages -- it's possible that if my food were liquid, or if it didn't allow for so much air in the container, it would stay hotter. Still, what's the point of a thermos if it doesn't keep your food hot for a few hours? Also, the heat generated when you pack this with food appears to create a very powerful suction. That's nice from the "won't spill" aspect, but no so nice from the "won't open" aspect. I have had to do serious battle with this thermos in order to open it, even when I made an effort not to overtighten it. It's kind of embarrassing to be spotted at the office writhing around, trying to twist open your food container. Hilarious lunch antics like these would fit in at Dunder-Mifflin, but they're out of place where I work.Incidentally, I noticed that other reviewers mentioned that the hole at the bottom of the thermos tends to collect water when the thermos is washed, water that is then nearly impossible to drain. My solution: I put a piece of masking tape over it. It keeps the water out, but doesn't seem to make much difference to the functioning of the item. If it turns out that it makes the thermos explode or something, I'll come back and update this review. If there are any inventors reading this, I have a request: Please invent an *oblong* stainless steel thermos that closes with a *latch*, and I'll be first on line to buy it.UPDATE: I've increased my review to 4 stars now that I've had further experience with this item. I recently brought some stew to work in it, and, as I had assumed, packing the thermos full of food so no air remains is the way to keep the food acceptably hot. So I'd say: If your food is liquid or can be packed tightly enough that no air remains, this might be a 5-star item. If it's solid or irregularly shaped, it's going to cool off no matter what you do.I also somewhat resolved the lid-suction problem by being REALLY scrupulous about never tightening even one micron past the arrows on the lid. (There is an arrow on the body and an arrow on the lid; they are supposed to be aligned when the item is closed.) Of course, now I'm paranoid about leakage with the lid so loose, but so far, it seems okay.

Good idea, poor execution.
I made a post earlier about the white one. Same issues with the green. Doesn't hold heat well and the lid is fussy.

great for school lunches
used for school lunches for the last 2 years. both kids have it and love the size of this thermal and that it keeps their lunch warm. Please note that you have to be careful when closing the top by using the marks and aligning them correctly; otherwise, it can't be opened again. my child did not know about the marks, and we couldn't open it again after she closed the top at school too tight. since it was our mistake, I don't blame the product. we purchased the new one, and we are happy to use it correctly.

Lunch making just got a whole lot easier!
I have been looking for a thermos that did not have plastic touching the food AND is like a bowl so my son can eat from it without pouring into something else...LunchBots to the rescue!I have to say, I was concerned when I saw how wide the lid was...I loved that it meant the opening was wide enough to eat from, but worried that my son would not be able to open it by himself. Not to worry; my son can open it easily, even when I put piping hot fried rice in there.I did follow the instructions and poured boiling water in for a few minutes. My son just will not eat leftovers if they are room temperature. He loved his lunch and we have even used it for little mini tacos. Lunch making just got a whole lot easier at my house.I got a blue one for myself and put leftover taco salad in it the night before and left it in the fridge. Next morning I took it to work and accidentally left my bag near (not right in front of) the portable heater in my office. I thought I would be looking at some seriously yucky salad, but it was actually still cool! I couldn't believe it!These are really sturdy and well made. I love the two I bought and will get a couple more for holiday gifts.

Thought it would be larger. Quite expensive for its size

Schade
Das gute Stück ist für meine Bedürfnisse zu klein und das Essen bleibt leider nicht heiß genug, trotz vorwärmen und ordentlich in der Mikrowelle heiß machen. Ich schicke es zurück.

Looks nice and seems well built
Looks nice and seems well built, but if you want hot soup for lunch fooggeddabouttit. Has very little insulating properties to it. Even pre-warmed with boiling water and filled with bubbly hot soup, by lunchtime 4 hours later, you'll be eating lukewarm product. Even the instructions state that there with be a 90 deg f drop over 4-5 hours. Wish that had been in online product description. Not to mention that its not cheap. So unless you want to keep a couple of kiwis from getting bruised in your lunch bag, give it a miss.
