Bona Mega ONE Extra Matte

I was very nervous before using the Bona Mega One product after reading other reviews BUT, after following instructions and DEFINITELY using a paint screen/filter to filter product before using it went down EASILY, I was so worried about puddles and lines but everything just Layed flat and ended up absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! It was my first time doing this size of a refinish product and glad I spent the money for this. You do need to work fast though, have everything ready and a plan. I did one bedroom first as a test and found i could do my entire 3 bedroom/living room in a couple hrs. Wait to dry, light sanding to knock off any imperfections with a screening machine, repeat a couple times, stand back enjoy your work! ( it's only going to be as good as the time you take to prep...sanding, vacuum, clean clean clean)

I really wanted to go with a water based product for health and environmental reasons as well as the clear, natural, matte look, but now it feels like a mistake. We had a flooring company that we’ve worked with in the past do the work. It looked incredible right after the job was completed. Matte finish with none of the amber tint that you get with oil products. But after 6 months of use I’ve resigned to the fact that we’ll have to sand and refinish the floors again in a few years.The durability of Mega One is abysmal compared to oil based Bona. It does OK with regular foot traffic. It’s much harder to clean the floors. You have to really work hard with the microfiber mop to get it clean, and I use only Bona cleaner and mops. It reacts quickly to things that may drip on the floor as well, namely any type of detergent (laundry, kitchen) and gives you almost no time to clean up a pet stain before the wood becomes dark and stained. Basically it offers terrible protection.If you are a person who lives a normal life in a house with wood floors then I would not go with a water based urethane. I’ve heard that their “Traffic” product is better but than this one but I wouldn’t risk it.

I love the look of this on our red maple hardwood! it went on as expected, you need to watch some videos and follow how you are supposed to do it and use waterbased wood filler but man its great and love the low voc and health aspect to this. We did 2 coats of Naturalseal and 2 of this, We did 2 coats a day.

Bona products offer NO UV PROTECTION. Zero. This means your wood floors will darken in areas with direct sunlight. Just finished a project and there is significant discoloration in the areas of direct sunlight. I will upload images later to illustrate.I called Bona tech support and they confirmed none of their products have UV protection. I asked "where that information can be found on the Bona website?" and there are no disclaimers or any mention of UV protection from what I can find. He suggested I do Google search a floor finish with UV protection. When I asked "what do I do?", Bona tech support suggested I put a rug over it. Unbelievable. Then I asked "how can it be fixed?" Wait for it... You'll love this... he said the Bona floor finished has to be sanded off and reapplied. Reapply the same worthless product, LOL.Now we have to sand everything, clean it up, and start over with a new product. Save yourself all ton of time, work, frustration, and money and use another product. I did my entire kitchen floor with this. It is extra matte for sure!! So much so, that when the light comes through window floor looks cloudy or milky at an angle. The wood disappears. I purchased the satin, and placed that over this. Now the floor is perfect!
