I purchased these in the hopes for easier clean up using my French press. They didn’t really work to diffuse the coffee out. The coffee would always come out weak because it wouldn’t diffuse out of the bag properly.However, these were perfect for cold brewing. I own and used to religiously use a Coffeesock. But clean up can be a hassle, especially living in an apartment where you don’t want grounds down the sink and you have no compost. These are super efficient to use! Let the grounds soak for a day and boom! perfect cold brew. These are great for both small and medium batches. They diffuse well when you can let it sit for a long period (which you can’t do for hot brewing). No more needing to strain out my grounds, worrying about grounds in the drain or boiling to clean my filter. Just toss when done.4/5 stars since it didn’t work well hot for me. Good to see it worked for some other though. I just like my coffee strong.

I’d stopped using my French press for making my morning brew as it was such a pain to clean the grounds out of the pot. This makes it SO easy! I let them dry afterwards & then put the grounds in my garden (happy roses!). Highly recommend!

I used to make my coffee with the french press just relying on the metal screen. It was ok, but would get the occasional stray coffee ground in my cup which was annoying. The real down side was the mess on clean up. Since I started using disposable filter bags my coffee never has grounds in it and clean up is MUCH nicer. I hate to use something wasteful, but these use minimal materials and have a great effect so I feel they are worth the trade off. Also there's no plastic so I expect these break down just fine in time.

I have a small French press and no matter what I do, I always get sediment at the bottom of the press and my cup, and floating in the coffee itself. So I decided to try these bags and use them like a tea-bag in the press. While they do cut down on sediment, I still get some, but not nearly as much. The coffee is less "muddy" tasting. I do find that I need to use an extra scoop of coffee with this technique, though. I suggest adding the coffee to the bag, then tying a knot in the string to make the "bag" smaller. This also cuts down on escaping grounds. Cleanup is SO much better when using these bags, by the way. Ideally, a smaller size and lower price would be nice. But until I can find some like that, I will probably keep using these.

As others have said, you lose a lot of flavor to the bag. That said, after a bit of experimenting I found by running 8 oz of hot water directly over the coffee before cinching the bag, dropping it into the press and then adding the remaining hot water to cover the bag and steeping for 5 minutes did the trick and no mess.

These little bags are wonderful for using with your French Press coffee maker. I am a HOT COFFEE person, so imagine my surprise when I realized that I could easily drink this coffee without the additions of creamers or sugars of any kind and still enjoy the (needed) effects of the caffeine.These little bags are wonderful and highly recommended.

Because I live in a rural area I have a septic system that does not take kindly to coffee grounds, making cleaning them out of my French Press a messy challenge. This product is perfect. Easy to put the grounds into the bag, tie it off and brew. I do make sure the “bag” is submerged while the coffee is brewing. My coffee tastes great, and clean up is no longer a chore. Will definitely re-buy!

Overall the cleanup is good. It’s a little difficult to get the coffee into bag after you grind the beans. The flavor is less robust than without the bag. It is smooth. May have to adjust the amount of beans. I am happy with product. Less cleanup and can use the grounds for hydrangeas.
