Lots of Light Output and a Wide Sensing Range
This solar motion light is more expensive than some others of its type, but it's worth it for the larger size and light output. I have an area on the far side of my garage that is not illuminated by any yard lights and is typically very dark, especially in our long winters.I mounted this light about 10 feet off the ground on the trunk of a tree, facing south. It sees a lot of shade, but I don't expect to use this light very much and the larger solar panel should be able to provide enough power despite the shadier conditions (so far so good). The light is easily triggered over a wide range because of the dual sensors, and it stays on for about 15 seconds if there is no further movement. To my eye it seems to have a "soft" start in that the light doesn't flash on abruptly, it seems to take about a second to go from off to full brightness. This is appreciated as it is not so startling. At the 10 feet of height, it provides a wide swath of bright lighting which is easy enough to see where you're going. An additional feature that I appreciate is that this light is hinged so that it can be folded up. This minimizes storage space when not in use, and also makes it convenient to travel with. Makes a great motion-sensing security light at a campsite.A welcome addition to a dark side of our yard. Recommended!

Pleasantly bright
I just started using this light the past couple nights, and I'm already very impressed. I love that there are multiple modes you can choose from that will cause the lamp to serve completely different purposes; I'm using it on the off-on mode where it's normally dark but turns on when motion is detected, and it's so far working perfectly. I haven't tried the always-on mode because I assume it'll drain the batteries more quickly than I'd prefer, but I find it very useful that you have the option of having it on at a lower setting and only brighten when motion is detected.Build quality seems sturdy and decent, so I have little concerns about wear and tear. Time will tell how good the solar panel is and whether it holds up into the future, but thus far, I have noticed no issues with dimming or charging. The path of the light is also pretty decent; it illuminates enough of my back yard to see my patio without issue.

Big Power
The amount of light that this can put out blew me away. I was used to cheaper lights, with much smaller batteries. The solar panel on this is huge, and will charge the light up even on cloudy days without direct sunlight. The motion detectors work very well, and can even detect small movements like a cat/dog. I'm so impressed with the amount of light! With the size of the battery and number of LEDs, I am using this as a full replacement for a hard-wired driveway light. No need to run wires when this little device can get the job done.Very impressive.

disappointed in battery life
I mounted this light about 8-1/2 feet high on a tree. I cleared all the low branches to the panel sees the sun for at least 9 hours in the summer. The good:It does do a good job of detecting our dogs at night (the purpose for putting it up)It's an attractive fixtureThe light output is goodThe not so goodIf we leave the dogs out for 2 or 3 hours the light is dead, its battery exhaustedIf your application is only for occasional on times then this might not be an issue for you.

Illuminates a wide area
The area between my parking area and my porch is very dark at night. There are no street lights or yard lights anywhere around and there is no outlet to plug anything in. I had a smaller solar light, that helped but it recently quit. This light is mounted on the edge of the roof so the solar panel is flat on the roof and the light is angled toward the walkway. It lights up a much sider area than the old light so I was able to move it further from the door so it is more centered between the door and the parking area. The light comes on as soon as I step out the door or when I am a few feet from the car. It is nice and bright and stays on long enough that I'm not in darkness half way to where I'm going. I would like a detachable solar panel, the light faces west and, when I can, I tip the solar panel toward the south to better catch the sun. With tis light that would tip the light also and I would lose my field of illumination.
