Drink the Harvest: Making and Preserving Juices, Wines, Meads, Teas, and Ciders

Excellent Beginner Book
If you are looking for a beginner book, this is an excellent choice. It covers all the basics in an easy to follow format, it is a beautiful book with photo instructions, and it includes a broad range of recipes, juice, wine, syrups, meads, kombucha, (not beer), and different ways to preserve them. The recipes use fairly natural ingredients to balance the acidity. If you are in the middle of your wine career, and you already have the equipment and the basics down, or if you are already familiar with canning, much of this book will be review, or too basic. They do not go into measuring acidity or brix, and there aren't a lot of wine specific recipes, although there are several I have not come across in other books. Overall I'm glad I bought it to read through, but I will pass it on immediately to a friend who is just starting out.

Lots of good, interesting, things to try here…
…but it might be a good idea to read more cider, mead (or whatever the drink of choice) books for a greater level of instruction if you find something you like.Beautifully photographed with a generally good resources section (if you haven't got an ingredient it comes up short on that) and all sorts of recipes. It looks so good and ought to be a great book to at least start out with.

Almost a 5
Really beautiful and helpful book with lots of visual aids and great recipes. Fair warning; a really solid recipe for making grape wine from grapes (instead there is a recipe for grapes to grape cider and one for grape cider to wine).

Lots of photos and easy to follow instructions
Lots of photos and easy to follow instructions. I am a beginner to food preserving and this talks you thru the entire process, can use not just for liquids but other food preserving as well. Nicely done.

Keep this book in your kitchen
Not just recipes, but how and why to process your harvest into a juice/mead/cider/etc and store the completed recipes, plus good ideas for switching ingredients.

Truly surprised and great addition to our home library.
This will become that book that you always make reference to. "Oh you know in that book when they suggested we could....." This has become that book in our household. Harvesting may become repetitive every year, same ingredients to same recipes, but this book truly helped to inspire us to think differently ; same ingredients, but NEW and different recipes!

quite pleased.
very informative. Book contains good mix of information and step-by-step walkthroughs. Interesting and well detailed recipes. Plenty of images displaying the steps of the various processes.Bought the book to explore additional uses of garden produce and herbs. The beginner will feel empowered and confident to start out and there is plenty of recipes and tips for the experienced person as well.
