I’m using the WD Black SN850X NVMe SSD for my local AI experiments and CUDA-based workloads, and it works like a charm. The read/write speeds are blazing fast — large model files load instantly, and data-intensive operations run smoothly without any lag. It stays cool even during prolonged GPU sessions and handles high I/O operations effortlessly. Installation was quick, and the drive has been completely stable since day one. A rock-solid SSD that delivers top-tier performance for developers, creators, and power users alike.

Bought this SSD to use with new Mac mini M4 for moving the home folders to this. Tried with the 2TB SSD first which works well as does this. I am going to load it up to check how well it works. Doing this after my HDD failed after a side fall, a Seagate 16TB Expansion drive. Will post a follow up review about 6 months later to share the user experience. After initialising the drive it seems to work well and give me a speed higher than the native drive.

Performance is absolutely fast. As I use the drive for 4k video editing there is no lag for the streaming

WD has been my favorite brand and this was my second WD NVMe SSD and first one in TB capacity range. Definitely great performance for my gaming needs. There is no lag in loading big games like Harry Potter legacy and A plague Tale requiem. If your remaining PC Hardware can manage demanding games, this drive is a definite worth the value it brings to the table for speed, dependability and near 0 latency. I did not observe any errors or lags in any application or game I have set up on this drive in months of using it.

After an year of use, I can say it works very well. Though it tends to get a bit hotter. The write speed sometimes drops when its hot.

After a nasty surprise with a previous order where I received a counterfeit Samsung drive, I decided to try WD. This time I’m pleasantly surprised. The drive is a solid performer and handles my gen-AI models and inferencing without a hitch. At a hefty price reduction on the Evo Pros these drives will most likely be my go-to provided they also stand the test of time.
