U-can Edge
I bought it just to try it out. After consuming Ucan prior to my run, it did as the product advertised - did not upset my stomach, gave me fuel for the run and it tasted good. I bought more afterwards.

It just works - no edginess, reliable energy!
Whenever I can, I'll take back to back classes 1-hour classes at my Y - a weight lifting following by a body combat class. I would run out of juice mid-way through the second hour - even when I really watched my nutrition. Taking UCAN Edge Energy Gel shots before the start of the second class, and I was killing it!! SImple to carry, simple to take - WORKS!!

better texture than gu, and no sugar crash
I switched from using Gu gels for long distance runs to these. These are great, because they are not meant to be chased by water like Gu. They are very drinkable and not at all chunky or thick like other gels. The taste does take some getting used to, but it is not bad (it's not as tasteful as a Gu gel, probably because it's not packed with sugar). I find that these give me much better energy for runs, as they are not packed with any sugar, and don't give me a crash. The only caution is that the carb content is not super high, so for training for races like marathons, they may need to be taken more often than the recommended one every 75 minutes.

Good to have alongside other sugar based gels
These don't have the same claimed energy density as other gels, but I find them helpful to mix in with others to reduce flavor and texture fatigue. The UCANs seem to provide a slower burn that I find helps level out swings in energy on long (>25 mile) runs that come with other sugar based gels. Note: the "unflavored" does have a mild citrusy (?) flavor, which I find relatively easy on the pallet, and I prefer it over the flavored varieties, especially on longer run days. Be ready for the slightly gritty texture - it is corn starch after all...

Nice alternative
I’ve tried many, many different types of glucose/fructose/maltodextrin products and raced with them over the years for marathons and triathlons. UCAN is a really nice alternative to going the sweet sugary route. I switched to UCAN a few months ago. First, I used the blood orange flavor and it is truly not bad. NONE of the gels of any type are very good. It is not very sweet which is wonderful for longer events when you just can’t take in one more sweet thing. Second, it’s maybe the size of 2 gels and as it lasts about an hour or more thus the size ratio is a wash. Finally, the sustained energy works, but the feeling of a boost from this gel is not the same and may wane even more after several hours. Several athletes have suggested switching to glucose based gels/chews (or even just swish one in your mouth) after several hours or late in the workout/event and I agree. Doing so seems to wake the brain and body up and give you a little kick. This is a great product if you want to use less sugar, less calorie intake, have sustained energy, and are tired of sugar/sweet overload during events. The UCAN Energy powder “load’ lasts 1 1/2 - 2 hours and allows you to take in less nutrition early in your workout/race. I use an electrolyte drink without sugar for hydration. I recommend trying this plan out and working with it to dial it in. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Taste good works great
I use for bike rides that are over an hour and a half. It gives me the energy needed to complete the ride. Plus I feel like I recover quicker. I like the taste

Great tasting, but rupture easily!!! Store carefully!
Embarking on my journey to conquer the half-marathon, I found my secret weapon: UCAN Edge Energy Gel Shots, in the exquisite flavor combo of strawberry banana. These little packets of goo promised to be the turbo boost my running shoes never knew they needed. So, I stashed them in the high-tech vaults of my compression tights, ready to unleash their power mid-stride.Alas, my dreams of effortless energy were punctured, quite literally, during the final rehearsal runs. Not one, but two of these gelatinous grenades decided to go kamikaze in the outer realms of my spandex fortress, leaving me less like a slick, speed demon and more like a sticky, fruit salad on legs.Come race day, I thought I had mastered the art of gel transportation, only to discover that one of my squishy companions had yet again embraced its explosive destiny. There I was, crossing the finish line, not in a blaze of glory, but in a splatter of strawberry banana - a walking, talking advertisement for how not to fuel your run.In the end, while the UCAN Edge Energy Gel Shots did indeed add an unexpected edge to my runs, it was less about the edge of peak performance and more about the edge of how many ways one can unintentionally wear their snack. Who knew race prep included mastering the art of gel shot containment?
