I ordered this acrylic knob to replace the OEM one in my ND MX-5 Miata. I just didn't like how rough and uneven the stock one felt with its massive stitching and metal cap, and I wanted to try something smooth instead.I previously had a VOODOO shift knob in my NB Miata, but I didn't feel like spending another $70 if I could find something comparable for less.So I ordered five knobs off Amazon ranging in price from $9 to $50. In the end, I kept this one. I like how it was 100% smooth and 100% symmetrical all around so I didn't have to screw it on dangerously tight just to make it look "straight." It's also massive (2.17" diameter) and nearly the size of a baseball, so it's easy to rest your whole hand on at stoplights.As for drawbacks, it sits quite high and will leave a big gap between your knob and your stock shift boot cover. Most aftermarket knobs will end up doing this on a Miata (since the OEM knob is so tall), but the gap on this one is particularly large. You can always fill it with a shift knob/boot retainer, but they're kind of a pain to install. I might drill a hole in a cork and use that instead.In addition, as many other users have pointed out, the acrylic ball and the interior brass threading are two separate pieces. If you screw it on super tight, the two will separate. That's what happened to me, so I pulled the threading out, added some superglue inside the walls of the knob and hammered the threading back in. No issues since. If you do this, just be sure the superglue is bone dry before you screw it back onto your shift lever - otherwise, this knob will be permanently glued to your car :)Overall, I'm highly impressed by this knob - it's smooth, simple, comfortable to hold, and relatively well made (it's honestly my fault for over-tightening it). I wish it sat a *little* lower but not a big deal for $9.Even though I pretty much have a blank check for Miata accessories, I still ended up preferring this knob over its $50+ competitors. A+
