Ambient Weather WS-4000 Solar Powered UltraSonic Wi-Fi Weather Station

I recently purchased the Ambient WS-4000 weather station, and I couldn't be happier with it! The compact design makes it a perfect fit for any space without being intrusive, and the setup process was incredibly easy—practically plug-and-play. I had everything up and running in no time, even without extensive technical knowledge. What impressed me the most is its accuracy. The readings are precise and consistent, which is exactly what I wanted in a weather station. Whether you're tracking temperature, humidity, or other conditions, this unit delivers reliable data every time. This Ambient Weather WS-4000 is the second one we've installed, this one at our cabin where it replaces an old but still working traditional Ambient Weather station we've had for many years. This new one works as advertised, easy to install, and reliable. We've had a couple of years experience with the first one, at our home. Great product, with it's clear, easy to read, detailed display for inside too, and the connection to the internet stays solid.

It was time to replace a 4 year old 2902 where the internals were finally succumbing to the salt air on the Oregon coast. I wanted something a bit more capable of adding more sensors, in particular air quality sensors. I also was attracted to the lack of moving parts so I bought the 4000 The good news is that it works as described and was much easier to set up than the 2902 was 4 years ago. The sensors connected automatically and the WiFi and app connections were very straightforward. The bad news is it’s a bit pricey, though that’s probably to be expected for the newest, most advanced integrated unit from Ambient. Unfortunately some of the documentation hadn’t kept up with the new unit (like upgrading firmware instructions). But tech support was quick to respond to walk me through the challenges. Finally, while it’s advertised as being able to support both indoor and outdoor air quality sensors, unfortunately they don’t tell you they use the same channel on the control center so you can actually only use one or the other Overall, strong positives that gave me 80% of perfect. So it gets 4 stars from me

Great little weather station. I had the model down from this for about three years, but it stopped working. We are in a very harsh environment as we are close to a body of salt water. This thing is really great and tells you everything you need to know to make an informed decision about the current and upcoming weather.

After only three months the rain gauge (set on haptic) quit recording. The first tier (lower level) has rust build-up and the surface starts coming apart. I contacted Ambient Weather and sent all pictures and details. After some back and forth and two weeks I was informed that the lifespan of my unit is challenged, because I live near the ocean/bay. This is the most outrageous reply I ever received. A weather station that is exposed to the elements has a barely a chance to survive after three months? (they actually said one year...) The WS-4000 was supposed to replace my four year plus old 2902, which was still working flawlessly and will be put back in service. Shame on Ambient Weather wih a very ambient policy and ZERO customer service. DO NOT BUY

I have loved the WS-2902 for 6 years now. Some nasty hailstorms wrecked the anemometer but the rest kept churning on perfectly. I decided to upgrade to the ws-4000 and I was impressed by how compact it was (hail really hammered the sensors on my 2902). I had quite the hiccups with the UV sensor apparently install crooked (IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THAT WAY!! ) can’t understand why that wasn’t in the packaging when something is obviously crooked and not in place. With that said most sensors and the display perform great! The biggest drawback…the rain gauge is awful. It isn’t remotely reliably and this is a major reason I have the station. Current comparisons have been .5-.85 of an inch off. Extremely dissatisfied with that sensor.

I’ve had this unit over a month. I currently have 3 personal weather stations. I mounted this next to my Sainlogic station to compare and see if my readings were accurate. They were almost exactly the same. I was worried about the rain gauge because of previous reviews. It measured the same as my other station. I am very happy and would recommend this to anyone who wants a personal weather station. I also added the optional lightning detector a few days ago….still waiting on rain!

Great weather station is an updated version of an earlier one I had. Very easy to set up but i have a problem with the rain feature as it disables its recording if it looses power. I can reset it manually but I was unable to get someone from their customer support to get in contact with me.
