Ingredients ingreis: Organic Pork Fat. Review: I used this to rub on the skin of baked potatoes instead of crisco. The sprinkle on a thin dusting of kosher salt. The pork fat was much lighter and added great flavor to the skins after baking. We only eat a little bit of the skins, but this tasted way better than crisco after cooking. And it’s better for you. The fat will likely be semi melted in the jar due to heat during shipping. But just pop it in the fridge and keep it there and you will be fine. The jar is vacuum sealed, so it is ok. Don’t freak out. Plus, keeping it stored in the fridge after opening will make it last much longer. It has almost no odor and is completely filtered, leaving zero particulates in the fat. I’m extremely happy with this product and will be using it for all of my wok cooking in the future. Review: I got lard to season my cast iron. I have used cast iron for 30 years and I have tried every oil out there. And honestly the pioneer’s old fashioned LARD is the only thing that gives me 100% NON-STICK on my cast iron. I keep my lard in the fridge for years and it does not go rancid like avocado oil. Avocado oil works well on cast iron too BUT Lard works the best. I bake bread every day in my Lodge cast iron 8.5 x 4.5 bread pans seasoned with lard. And I cook and bake in my lard seasoned Dutch oven and fry pans every day. Never use soap on cast iron. Anyway get some lard. I use LARD in cakes instead of canola oil. Why? Because canola oil is not natural or good for you. It’s highly processed. While lard, it’s easily available in nature. Seed oils are highly inflammatory.

This is a healthy alternative to crisco. I use it all the time now. Loving it. Fry homemade fries in it and they taste like a guilty pleasure and better than any fast food fries. I'm fluffy and know food so I'm practically an expert.

I was looking for a new lard to use in my cooking and cosmetics since I ran out of my normal brand, so I decided to try this one. The price was a little higher than I expected, but I was willing to pay it if the quality was good. However, the flavor and quality of this lard was horrible! Ewwk! The flavor was strong and unpleasant. Properly rendered Lard should have a mild, porky scent, but this lard was overpowering. I still tried using my cooking but it ruined the flavor of the food and had me gagging. I didn't want to waste the jar so I use a portion of it in my skin cream recipe. The skin cream turned out okay except for the smell. It was so porky that it lingered on the skin. I really considered that the cream would have been more pleasant if I used bacon grease. That's also when I noticed toward the center of the jar, there was super dark yellow fat swirled in with the lighter yellow fat. This suggests that the lard was not rendered correctly or maybe gone rancid. I would not recommend this lard to anyone. It is overpriced and the quality is poor. I would much rather stick with my original lard which is cheaper and of higher quality.

This organic pasture raised pork lard is excellent. It's not like the hydrogenated lard that looks like shortening, this one actually tastes like pork. I used it to make tamales and the mild pork flavor really enhanced the taste of my masa. The tamales were excellent.
