Value for money
I bought this module for the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W running the current 64-bit version of the official OS and could not make it work out-of-the-box. I almost returned the module suspecting a hardware defect, but then learned by hit-and-trial over the next couple of days that the current Debian Bookworm based OS has removed the "legacy camera" support. The module worked as expected on the 32-bit legacy OS after enabling the "legacy camera" support through the command line configuration tool.

Don't expect sharp pictures.
I personally think this is really good deal for people who know what they are doing. But for the people who don't know, i want to say that setting this up is not as easy as it seems. If you managed to do it properly, then congrats. But be warned that you should never ever plug this into the Raspberry Pi when it is turned on.

Good but not compatible with raspberry pi 5
The camera itself is as you expected. Installation is easy but the cable is not fit for raspberry pi 5. Quality is fine as per the price.

Cheap Packaging and Damaged Product
The packaging was ultra cheap. The camera literally fell off just like other customer and never got detected. After adding startx_1 gpu_mem=128 dtoverlay=ov5647 in boot/firmware/ config.txt I got two things as 1(supported devices & interface) while Detection still did not work. LED blinks only once. I have kali in my Pi.

Nice and cheap.
Works flawlessly with raspberry pi 3B+(if you know what you are doing, or at least search and read how to make it work). Tested with octopi version for time-lapse. Worked really nice, picture quality is not that amazing but it's acceptable. (obviously you can't compare with DSLR, but it is decent quality for 5megapx camera). Also added time-lapse for info. Only downside is short cable length.

Think we'll before you buy.
I bought it for my project on home security system and only used it to capture images. The image quality was good considering the price. But the real problem is you should be careful while connecting it to Pi. Remember to power off the Pi before connection. If not then you'll damage the sensor and then it's just useless. Remember to turn off Pi before connection!!!! 🙂 Coz I roasted my camera by not turning off the PI

Producto perfecto

Ottimo in tutto.

Good little peice of kit.
Works fine. HD quality just as good as any pocket HD camera these days (and I mean that in a good way). Although the frame rate on a PI is too slow to catch a cold, so you end up turning the res down and a slow frame rate. Slightly better results on a PI 2, as you can up the resolution a bit, but if you want top HD, you feel you have to compromise on the frame rate for streaming video and resort to having it just take periodic pictures. To be honest, I've played around with different Linux camera programs and compiled them for the PI (which is an all-night affair), added extention USB cords, mounted it in a home made external security box. Been there, done that; worn the T-shirt. But my conclusion was, it was easier to buy a cheap IP HD cam. Maybe not as much fun though! :-)

Great little camera adds a lot of inexpensive versatility and creativity for Pi users
QUICK SUMMARY: Amazing steal for just a few bucks, with tons of potential for those motivated to learn. Highly recommended! BACKGROUND: I only came to the Raspberry Pi world a few months ago as of this writing, and quite by accident. Originally, I bought just a Raspberry Pi to inspire my pre-teen son, but quickly got hooked myself. Adding this camera to a Raspberry Pi made sense as it opens up a ton of creative opportunities and, for me specifically, helped me replace WiFi home surveillance cameras which no longer worked reliably following a company buy-out. WHAT I LIKE: - Inexpensive! Add a 5MB camera for under thirty bucks? Yes, please! - Easy to install! Pop up a locking tab on the Raspberry Pi, insert the ribbon, lock the tab into place and, done! - Easy to immediately use! I use the Picamera library and have had a lot of success using that to get photos - Add a wide-angle lens! Sold separately, I bought a somewhat clunky wide-angle clip-on lens and greatly improved the utility of this camera - Great quality photos if you're taking outside shots in bright light; otherwise, they're okay (but great for the money spent) - Trouble-free. I've bought three of these cameras for three Pi's and all are working reliably, even outdoors under my eaves WHAT COULD BE BETTER: - The camera comes with only one, default ribbon cable which for me is just barely long enough. I'd prefer having ordering options where the customer could choose how long of a cable to go along with the camera board. (Yes, you can buy ribbon cables separately, but that's at a greater cost and the shorter ribbon needlessly becomes a throw-away attachment). CONCLUSION: Great item at an even greater value proposition. Highly recommended!
