Best kettle I've ever owned!
absolutely love this kettle, and not just cuz it looks cool! The handle is actually comfortable! The popular cork handles of othe models make my jacked up shoulder worse, but not this kettle! The pouring action is very smooth, and easy on my arm. The heating action is FAST, easily the fastest working kettle I've ever owned. It's so easy to use right out of the box, the buttons and functions are very intuitive, I could tell what to do just by looking at the display, before I'd even opened the instructions. (Which I *did* read, but apparently didn't need to.) It's also the quietest kettle over ever owned I really didn't realize how loud my old kettle was till I heard this one going. It's whisper quiet in comparison!! My only room to kvetch is I wish it held more water, but I don't actually *need* bigger, the capacity on this one is perfectly fine. I'm very pleased with this kettle!

Reliable & Stylish Choice — Krups 1.5L Electric Kettle Impresses!
I recently got the KRUPS 1.5L Electric Kettle, Cool Touch, and so far I’m really happy with it. The leakage is perfectly fine — no drips or leaks around the spout or base, even when the kettle is full. The safety features are excellent: the outer surface stays cool while boiling, and the auto shut-off works perfectly, which makes it feel very safe to use. When it comes to taste, the stainless steel interior keeps the water clean — no plastic smell or strange aftertaste at all. The kettle heats up quickly and efficiently — 1.5 L boils in just a few minutes. The overall kettle quality feels solid and premium — sturdy handle, smooth lid, and a well-balanced design. And the colour is beautiful! Sleek, modern, and fits perfectly into my kitchen style. Overall, this kettle combines safety, speed, and elegant design. I’m really pleased with my purchase and definitely recommend it!

Best Electric Kettle I've Ever Owned
I've had this kettle several weeks and I think I can provide some informative feedback. Over the years, I've owned a number of electric kettles with varying satisfaction. They only had to do one thing and they all accomplished that task. The differences were mainly materials used, ease of cleaning, and longevity. My most recent kettle lasted about 15 years, so I can't complain. To replace it, I searched quite a bit, checking out new designs and features and was drawn to this Krups kettle. In no time, I realized I'd made an excellent choice. The kettle's design is very attractive in my kitchen. On a more practical level, the kettle heats water to a boil very quickly. I very much appreciate the audible tone it makes when it reaches the desired temperature. I like having the option to select water temperatures other than a full boil although that will only happen occasionally. The interior of the kettle is stainless steel thus making for safer water to drink. Unlike most all other kettles, it's insulated and an attractive plastic is used on the exterior thus making the kettle safe to touch. The display of the water temperature is a very nice touch and looks quite impressive. The kettle has a wide opening, making it quite easy to clean the interior but it must NOT be submerged in water. The only thing this kettle needs to prove itself is to continue working for many more years and I'm confident it will. Yes, I'm very pleased with this kettle.

Nice kettle with some cool features
Our old countertop kettle died after 5 years so it was time for a new one. Krups is a trusted brand and Prime deal days had this on sale so I decided to give it a try. The cord storage in the base keeps the cord short and out of the way if you don’t want it all over your counter. It boils a whole kettle in under 3 minutes and half the kettle took about 30 seconds. I use it for tea and mushroom coffee and also for noodles. The presets work for me but if you need a more exact temp, the button on the handle allows you to stop the kettle at any time and choose your own temp. It would be nice if it had an option to set a temp and walk away rather then watch it and stop it yourself. But it’s still nice to see the real time temp and be able to control it. It seems well made and minimal plastic in contact with the water. The only plastic inside the kettle is a small latch at the pour spout. The cool touch feature works well and I like the sleek look of it. It’s an easy to use kettle and seems like it will last. Hopefully we get 5 years from this one like the last one we had!

Boils Water, Doesn't Burn (Injure)
KRUPS 1.5L Electric Kettle, Cool Touch Stainless Steel Interior Like all good tools this item does its job quickly, efficiently, and doesn't get in the way. For years, I had an insulated plastic kettle that performed well. When a crack appeared I went looking for a replacement. I made the mistake of getting a cheap (and trashy) kettle that seriously got in my way. It was not insulated and the outside temp when boiling water was over 180 F. --- hot enough to burn your hand. The pour was sloppy (splashed all over) and the lid was cheaply haphazard at best. So I condemned it, and it's now interred in a landfill where it belongs. Immediately I went searching for a replacement. This Krups unit is insulated. When water is boiling inside, the outside temp is 108 F. so you can touch it without injury. It seems reasonably fast although there isn't a lot of difference among these units --- 1500 watts is the general standard, and that's the deciding factor, beyond the variable of the amount of water being heated. When filled to the MAX line I timed it to boil in five minutes thirty seconds. Roughly enough water for a cup of tea boiled in about two minutes. This item has a smaller capacity than most. It's rated 1.5 liter, and most are typically 1.7 or 1.8 liter. That's fine for me, but you may need the greater capacity. Being smaller, it also seems less intrusive on the counter. Also, it feels lighter than the glass models. One excellent feature is a longer-than-average power cord. It's three feet, and it can be cleverly shortened by winding up part of it in the bottom of the base. That can make for a neat installation on the countertop. The only shortcoming I see is a lack of a measuring scale. The only marking is a maximum fill line. The documentation mentions a minimum fill line, but there is none. This introduces a bit of guesswork, but if that's the worst thing, then we'll be getting along for a good while. The one I have is black, and it looks good, if looks matter! One ergonomic note --- do not hold the handle at the top while pouring as steam may hit your hand, ouch!

Returning
I was hopeful that this KRUPS kettle would be good and would last longer than any of the other half dozen I have purchased in the last decade. I'm convinced none are manufactured these days to last more than a year or two. If you're lucky. Upon receiving it, I immediately filled it to learn its features and to see how it worked. I was immediately disappointed (and a bit angry) to see that the handle was secured to the inside of the kettle by a large black piece of hard plastic. Yes, this plastic piece is above the waterline, however, the steam from heated water wets the plastic, and that moisture drips back down. Not good. That alone was a deal killer for me. I do NOT want any plastic inside a kettle that heats water. I would NOT have purchased the kettle had they shown the plastic inside of the otherwise stainless steel interior, or mentioned it in their description. I continued with the testing of the features. After several attempts at heating the water to 212 F degrees, the water never heated above 208 F degrees. It looked like it was boiling, but it never reached the 212-F point although the base indicated it had reached boiling point. I have an instant-read Thermoworks Thermapen and I have never had a reason to suspect it is not accurate. The next problem was with the 'stay-warm' setting. The kettle doesn't maintain the temperature automatically as stated in the manual. You have to play around with the button, and even then, I discovered the water temperature kept decreasing. It stayed at 205-F for a while (the manual states that is the highest degree it will stay warm at), but after a few minutes, the temperature began to decrease. There is nothing "easy-to-use" about this digital kettle's base or the instructions on how to set the stay-warm feature. It is difficult to see if the stay-warm light is on or not, or what it means when it is 'blinking.' I found both the base and the manual's instructions confusing and I'm not a luddite when it comes to electronics. When you lift the kettle off the base and then return it, you have to press the stay-warm feature again and hope it works (it didn't). But if it did, you'd still have to remember to push that button every time you lift to pour and return the kettle to the base. The black metal of the kettle is pleasing and the kettle is a good size -- a full liter. The base is shiny plastic which will easily scratch and show those scratches. Plus it doesn't match the kettle's matte finish. Odd decision there. The gooseneck spout is well-positioned and pours smoothly at a good speed. However, it took me less than an hour of testing to decide to return this kettle. I cannot recommend it.

Works well, but awkward
Over the years I have used the basic kettles for my tea. I drink black tea so the boil only option was fine. My most recent kettle started having issues with the power toggle not staying down I thought I would replace it with one that had more to offer. Temperature control and keep warm seemed like handy features to have. This kettle does that well, however some things I wish I had known before I bought this model. 1) Even empty it is heavy - I have fibromyalgia and the weight of this kettle empty can be problematic on a morning before my muscles have decided to function. Add the water and it is a two handed lift affair. Since this it is insulated/cool touch it isn't that big of an issue but given the amount of hot beverages I drink during the day I can see this may be more of a workout than I'd like it to be. 2) The handle - Most of the weight is in the bottom when full of water, the handle doesn't provide much in the way of balance when pouring. It is for sure a two handed process. 3) THE BEEP - I am awake at random hours and my spouse is not. We live in a small space and the beep to start and the double beep at the end is very loud. I wish I could disable that. 4) The height - I saw the measurements but didn't really think it would be a problem. It is about 4" taller than my last kettle. I kept it under my cabinet on my counter and it had plenty of space that the steam was not a problem. This one has to be pulled out away from my cabinets to use it. Given the size of the kettle and the small space that is my counter it tends to be in the way. It makes for a lot of moving back and forth throughout the day. 5) The lid - To open the lid you have to push a button inset in the lid. It sticks and doesn't open every time. You either have to push it several times to get it to unlatch or just use two hands and pull up on the lip of it at the spout while you push the button down. These aren't really deal-breakers, but things I wish I had known. I had already disposed of box it came in so a return is out of the question. I will keep using this until I can find one that is more fibro-friendly, but then it is being given away.
