Finally! I can take my favorte K-Cups camping!
If you are someone who turns up your nose at K-cup coffee, run along and play with your french press. This review is not for you. For years I have been longing to take my favorite K-Cups camping, but have had to make due with inferior forms of coffee making when camping. Until this beauty came along. It allow you to bring along your favorite pods (Angelino's Moka Java, btw) and it makes a great cup of coffee. As you can see from the product photos, it is nice and compact and comes with it's own travel mug - BUT (and this is where things get magical) it *exactly* fits a Yeti 10oz stainless steel mug. This is significant because the Yeti mug is my go-to all-time favorite coffee mug for camping. Seeing it fit perfectly in place of the mug that comes with it was like getting a message from the gods that "this is the one". Some things to help you live in harmony with this little device. 1. When you set the pod in the carrier, give the top a firm thump with your hand to help the need pierce the bottom of the pod. When you set the plunger portion on top of the pod, do the same. That's pretty much to key to having a leak-free experience. 2. When you press the plunger down, do it SLOWLY. The goal is to give the hot water and the coffee grounds in the pod time to get acquainted. That's pretty much it. Enjoy your coffee as you watch the early dawn light and the forest wakes up. Finally, Many of the 1 star review say things like "Takes an incredible amount of force to push the plunger down". Ignore this. They are weaklings. You are not. Also it means they are trying to push the plunger down too fast. This is not like using a horse plunger to win the world speed record. The goal is to make *excellent coffee*. To do that, the plunger must be pushed down *slowly*. It should take about 20-30 seconds. Here's how I figured out the correct rate: Next time you make a cup of coffee at home with your Keurig brewer LISTEN to the sound the water makes as it trickles into your cup. Then, when you are using this marvelous device, push the plunger down only fast enough to recreate that sound. No faster. As I said about that will put you in the 20-30 second range. Along these lines, one reviewer said "coffee is not that strong" which probably means that they were trying to Arnold Schwartzenegger the plunger to the bottom like they were running late to work. Take your time, and the coffee will be plenty strong. Also the claim of "It leaks and makes a mess" is just another way of saying "I don't know how to use this wondrous device" See points #1 & #2 above.

Great value!
Catching this on sale was a huge steal! The others like it cost way more and don't even come with all the extras! I get a cool stainless steel cup with lid and straw in addition to the already sleek and high quality coffee press thing! Not to mention I can use either k-cups or the included filter thingy! Truly an incredible value and works exactly as it should. My only tip is to manually puncture the k-cup when placing it in as only the top gets punctured when the upper part goes on. There are pokers for the bottom.. I'm just saying push down a little harder when inserting the k-cup to make sure the bottom is punctured. Highly recommend.

Easy and fun to use and clean my own ground and k cups
Its nice for the option of occasional k-cup. Good product. Good quality on the components. Excellent reusable cup to use for my own grounds. I got feedback to grind more course and have tried both my own ground coffee and kcups. My grinder range is 1-6, so I have been using grind size 5 for this brewer and cold brew. For coffee, I have found pressing down slightly and pausing 30 seconds for coffee to bloom like I would in a pour over, then repeating that a couple more times makes a pretty good version. I love how quick and accessible this makes making coffee without using a machine. The most recent coffee I made, I used one tablespoon in the reusable cup with ten ounces of water. Normally it holds two tablespoons. I tried mulled spices as a tea and again used one tablespoon in the reusable cup. I tried a different method to extract by pushing down a little until it wet the grounds, then let it extract for four minutes like I would with tea, and then slowly pushed the water through to finish. I liked the results. Mulled spices were gentle coming through and made a nice tea this way with a hint of spice. Next time, I would use hot water from the tea kettle instead of thermos. I have been using a thermos after I heat water for the second or third cup. It fits well in a paper coffee cup and other types of cups besides the provided stainless cup. Its fun to drink out of the cup and I have put the cup and straw (without the lid) in the dishwasher. All the other parts with gaskets, I rinse off and hang dry. I like how it is easy to reapply the syringe to clean out remaining water as part of the cleaning process. I have been using it daily so it hasn't made it back to store in cupboard yet. Its getting quicker as I go just to rinse out the parts. The coffee taste from fresh ground I will continue to use this method along with cold brew. I much prefer this along with cold brew to other methods for making quick hot coffee. The taste of the coffee is better from fresh ground. I have made decaf k-cups, my own ground coffee, and just now mulled spices as a tea. Very accessible to use and clean, easy, and fun.

Doesn't work, plunger draws grounds in instead.
I bought this to use at work since the company Keurig machine is never cleaned and I don't care to drink the discarded coffee grounds of my coworkers. Unfortunately it doesn't work, the plunger refuses to move no matter how much or how little pressure is applied. In fact it managed to pull the grounds from the K-Cup into the needle chamber. Despite what some reviews say the plunger is VERY difficult to push down or remove, my guess is there's a manufacturing issue with the membrane at the bottom of the chamber causing it to fail. This could be why some people have issues like myself while others have absolutely no problem. Beyond that everything from the product definitely has a premium feel down to the stainless steel tumbler and carrying bag. I really want to like this product so I plan to return it for a replacement. If that one works better I'll update my review.
