Really worth the money
Excellent intro. It's filled with basic knowledge, useful tips and informative product reviews of the author's own ham gear. It also includes lots of useful internet links.

Three Stars
This author had a good book but was kind of bias toward MFJ company.

Meh... it's OK, I guess
I suppose it's OK for the £8 or so that it cost. "Four book collection" sounds like it should run to at least a thousand pages but, in fact, you could read the whole thing in a hour. Most of the information is stuff you can find free-of-charge on web sites, but there were a few interesting ideas that I hadn't seen before. The main problem is that it really is just a collection of ideas. There's a lot of "you could try this..." but very little practical information about how to do it in real-world conditions, or what sort of performance you might expect if you did. There's little (maybe nothing) about grounding arrangements, for example, or installation of radials, or how antennas might be affected by height or the presence of buildings. There's a chapter on antenna modelling software, but little guidance about how the results of modelling might be reflected in real-world installations. When you consider that some of the ARRL antenna publications -- which are absolute troves of detailed technical information -- are about the same price as this book, the poor value for money becomes even more evident. If you're absolutely new to shortwave radio, have never built an antenna, and can't be bother to do your research on the web, this book might be worth £8 is time savings. Otherwise, there are better books, and better value for money.

certainly a good antenna construction book for me
A brilliant book for a newby like me. Built 3 simple antennas from this book with adjustment and length calculations very simple to understand. Able at last to make contacts so well pleased. A must buy for anyone wanting to build their own antenna or even understand the theory of them. Well used already.
