another heartbreakingly beautiful masterpiece
4.5/5 ⭐️ 2/5 🔥A Ballad of Phantoms and Hope is Lanstons story, who we met in The Fabric of Our Souls. TFoOS is one of my top reads so far this year and Lanston was one of my favorite characters so I had high expectations for this book and it did not disappoint!Lanston and Ophelia’s story was so hearting breakingly beautiful, I think I cried through half the book. I’m not sure I can even put into words the way this book touched my heart and soul in so many ways.I think the characters being ghosts and trying to find their way and get closure really rocked me emotionally. We don’t know what’s on the other side till we get there and to think of spirits wandering aimlessly trying to find peace and still struggling absolutely broke my heart.Lanston stole my heart in TFoOS, he has a tragic past but still the sweetest heart and soul. He deserved the world and so much more and I’m so glad K.M. gave it all to him with Ophelia. The ending truly had me sobbing with the way K.M. tied the two books together and gave us such a beautiful ending.

A little predictable
The fabric in our souls truly destroyed me that I was so ready to cry following Lanstons story in purgatory. The story was very nice but honestly felt so predictable with the outcome, it was very hard to finish this book but after reading it I think it just left that sense of calmness. Not a spicy book if you were looking for that here lol🌶️

Paranormal love in a new view
My heart needed this. The entire book was such poetry, there were so many times that I had to reread a line because it was just so beautifully written. We get to explore a story based in the “in between” in a way I’ve never read about it before and I really enjoyed a new perspective. I’m so happy that the mmc got his hea, even if it was in death. They both deserved all the happiness that was stolen from them. 2/🌶️

The story of two lost souls
I’ve always struggled with words, especially in English since it’s not my first language. But this book completely tore my heart out and is absolutely deserving of a five-star review. The last 180 pages had me crying every few chapters—it was utterly heartbreaking. The way K.K. Moronova tells this story is simply beautiful. I never realized I had such a soft spot for books like this. After reading Fabric of Our Souls, I gave myself a year before picking up this one. The story of Lanston is told so beautifully, and the little quotes throughout the book reach deep into my soul. They are just too good. I rarely annotate books, but with this series, I did. I want to keep these books close to my heart and revisit the best quotes over and over again. Please make sure to read all the trigger warnings, especially if you’re going through a tough time. For me, I wasn’t in a great place, but this book healed a part of me in its own, beautiful way.

Heartbreakingly beautiful 🖤
I can't even begin to put into words what this book did to my heart. It was heavy, dark, and heartbreaking. But it was also hauntingly beautiful. The Fabric Of Our souls haunted me, the only book I've ever read that I cried, ripped my soul out, strangely put it back together.Lanston, what an amazing soul he was. I absolutely adored him. Ophelia the light to his darkness. The butterfly and the Moth.K. M Moronova is an incredibly talented story teller, her words spun into a beautiful masterpiece of a story that gave me the peace I needed after The Fabric of Our Souls.

Emotional, spicy.... Ghosts
Firstly, make sure you check the trigger warnings before reading this book.Secondly read Fabric of our Souls before you dive into this one.Thirdly, have tissues at the ready. You'll need them. This book reads quite a bit differently then FOOSs does but it was still so so so good (even if it does make you feel some big feels). You really feel like Langston (and Ophelia) and all the side characters from FOOSs get the ending they all deserved.
