Delicious
Informative, imaginative, delightful and fun. Just for the condiments alone this book is well deserving a spot on your shelf. The first day I got it I flipped through and was in a culinary wonderland sandwiched neatly between bread I baked myself. If you really want to step up your lunch game and be the envy of any break room, this is the book for you. Turn heads, nose first, with the masterpieces you'll craft from this book. It isn't for beginners but it doesn't require a culinary arts degree. If you're experienced but not yet a full expert, this book can definitely help you step up your skills. As a side note, the book "The Bread Baker's Apprentice" is where I learned to bake bread, which certainly enhances the experience.

A great guide for creating artisanal sandwiches
I have been working on my sandwich skills over the last several years. It's fun to branch out from what I learned when I first started taking cooking seriously to sandwiches that not only comfort but also impress. This book has been a big help to me in that journey. I like the way that the author transforms the sandwich into something that can be truly savored, not just enjoyed. Although I enjoy a great Chicago-style Italian beef sammy as much as the next guy, a cured duck breast sandwich with caramelized apples and endive is just a whole different type of experience. It's almost like comparing an Elvis song to one sung by Pavarotti; both are enjoyable but one is almost spiritual.I have made over a dozen of the recipes in this book, but I have to admit that I did quite a bit of substitutions - mostly when it came to the choice of meat. When I prepared formal, sit-down meals I started buying more of whatever protein that I was serving than I needed and saved the leftovers for some of these sandwiches. One of things that really sets these sandwiches apart from others is the 'wichcraft's signature spreads and condiments. I have added my favorites from this book to my culinary repertoire. I was pleased to discover that some of them are available in jars from Williams-Sonoma, however, at 14 dollars a piece I found them to be pretty expensive. My favorite is the Balsamic Onion Marmalade, it really adds a combination of sweetness and acidity to anything that you slather it on.I have a pretty good collection of cookbooks featuring sandwiches now, over a dozen, and although this is not my favorite, it's pretty close. This is one inspiring cookbook and I recommend it to anyone who wants to bring their sandwich game up a notch or two.

A Tasty Winner
I have only had the opportunity to eat at Tom Colicchio's 'wichcraft once, but that was enough for me to fall in love with it -- the food and the atmosphere. I'm a big fan of the sandwich and this book is a great way to gain new recipes and ideas on how to transform your favorite dishes into sandwiches. I especially love the insightful essays that appear throughout the book with tips on how to turn your sandwich into the perfect salad (for carb-conscious eaters), preparing for crowds, and pantry essentials. Each recipe features a full-color and appetizing photo of the sandwich in question and instructions are extremely easy to follow.

some good / some not so good recipes
so far I've made a half dozen of the sandwich recipes in the book. While some were fine, others in my opinion were simply not worth the effort taste-wise and one was down right bland. Definitely a niche thing.

Not your average turkey and ham sandwich cookbook
This cookbook is not bad but it is different. I guess that is why it is called 'wichcraft. These sandwiches are not your average sandwiches. If you love gourmet sandwiches, you may not mind putting in the work. However, I don't think this will be popular with kids or people with "simple" palates. I think this book is great if you want to up your sandwich game or stretch your palate. I think I'm up for the challenge. I love the fact that it includes sweet and savory sandwiches. I also love the relish, vinaigrette, and mayonnaise recipes.

I love sandwiches!
I love sandwiches & this book gives me some creative ideas on how to turn my good 'ole regular sandwiches into something spectacular. Usually I check out a cookbook from my local library to see if I want to add it to my collection. This cookbook was checked out across all the libraries that my home town library is linked to. So, I bought it sight unread taking the gamble that given the popularity, I'd like it. Great 1 stop resource & yep, I'm very glad I bought it. Love the chopped chickpea sandwich, have made it several times (w/minor substitutions). As my nephew says, "yummers!"

Delicious recipes
I'm a bit of a sandwich snob. Not a big fan of plain ham and cheese sandwiches. This cookbook has the most delicious and beautiful sandwiches ever. The roasted turkey with avocado and balsamic marmalade is my favorite so far. Ordered after my future dil made me a sandwich from the cookbook. You will not be disappointed.
