I couldn’t be happier with my decision to purchase this Matace 2 Pack 12x14 Inch Fireproof Welding Blanket. My primarily use was for making oil lamp wicks with pint and quart jars. The 5mm thickness is just right for small square wicks and for rolling them into slightly larger round wicks. The fabric does an excellent job of absorbing and wicking the lamp oil which is ideal for lamps.Since the pack included two blankets, I put the second one to good use in the kitchen. I fashioned it into a pot holder which has turned out to be superior to any store bought ones I have ever used. I can now easily remove a 500°F cast iron pan from the oven and I don’t even feel the heat on my hand. It is an impressive level of protection!Overall I believe the Matace 2 Pack 12x14 Inch Fireproof Welding Blanket offers excellent value for the price. It’s versatile, durable, and performs beyond expectations and highly recommend!

Easy to cut and apply. Used this inside our Non-fireproof safe.It is just for added insurance. Plan for the worst and hope for the best scenario.Hope we never have to test this product in a real house fire.PS. Used a 482 degree High temp silicone Sealant to stick the product inside the safe walls.

The media could not be loaded. This is a soft and firepoof material.I've used fiberglass before,which can be very irritating to your skin,but this one is completely different,it's comforable to handle.As for whether it smokes, I guess that depends on the fuel you're using.Its heat resistance is excellent,and it's versatile for many uses around the house,like my alcohol stove and BBQ grill.Highly recommended!

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I am amazed---this product really works. I put it behind a copper pipe that I was sweating in and after I was done the wood (1/2 inch away) was not even darkened.

Worked well just wish it has metal ring to hold it up or magnets some like that .

A must have for sweating plumbing in tight areas.

With all the technology out there, you will just have to use the torch, sometimes. That makes safety and protection paramount, this mat is made for the trade, it's softness makes it malleable, but don't let that fool you. It's design makes it tough, and it's weight versus thickness is just right.This is a value for money purchase that when used right will save you thousands!
