O2 SIM Card UK & EUROPE PREPAID PAYG £10 Bundle 8GB data, unlimited minutes & texts

This data was needed for our mifi, to be used in Europe. I had already followed instructions for activation and placed the sim in my mobile whilst still home in the UK, 24 hours before leaving home. I then placed the sim in the mifi, ready for our trip. This went well. However on arrival in France I had difficulty getting the data to work, but having emailed for assistance (as directed on package), I received a reply almost immediately, which was very reassuring. Within an hour, I’d had help from a person via my mobile, who very patiently talked me through, and it worked like magic!

OK so delivery was quick, and the product was as described. It was a nice touch that the seller contacted us giving us helpful information on how to get the most out of the card and confirm it's activation once we used the QR code attached. The gentleman on the phone was very friendly and helpful, and was very frank about the process being set up to get good customer reviews. That's where it went Downhill. Carried out all advised procedures to ensure the SIM would work when it arrived in France. It did not. 02 we're terrible. Indian call centre, almost impossible to communicate absolutely useless. Explained that I had given the phone to my daughter to stay in contact on a school trip.... "do you have the phone with you?" No. Do you know the balance on the account? No. Well sorry if you can't pass security I have no choice but to place a block on the account. I went ballistic and the Indian gentleman working for 02 laughed. Phone back in UK, still not working, used a different sim card in the end. Absolute joke. So glad I don't use 02 for my 3 household mobile contracts, broadband, or any other products. I tried to ask the seller for help and they acted concerned and worried, but essentially couldn't do anything about it. I sent them the audio file of the conversation with 02, but the seller failed to notice it was an audio file yet alone convert it to play it, so shows how much they cared... So I wasted the price of the SIM, the express delivery, the time and stress of chasing 02 when it didn't work, got trolled and laughed at by some Indian call centre muppet, and still had to use a diff sim once my daughter came home. Absolute joke of a mess around and if I were the seller, and wanted to avoid poor reviews I'd take note .... good service doesn't compensate for a bad product. Drop 02 as a sim you endorse and have the honour to say why. There's no value in saying "that's unfair because we did all we could", you did "all you could" AFTER the mistake of selling me a poor product, which still wasn't enough to get the product working, or recoup any of the money that was wasted on this fruitless pursuit. No amount of money or apologies will remedy the fact when my daughter left the country we had no way of contacting her. Before you call this an isolated incident or not reflective of the wider customer experience, just phone 02.

Activation as instructed a few days before you leave the UK simple using the website speakeasytelecom.com. Remember to make at least one call on it before you leave the UK as instructed. Calls worked fine as long as you put the + before the internation code. Works on LTE/3G system, so as this bandwidth is being withdrawn in a lot of countries, I wasn't sure it would work in Finland, but it did. If you call someone in the country that you are visiting before you leave the UK, then you will know if it works or not. On my return, I did this as well and it still works until 30days are up. Negative -I could't get internet access with my 'mobile data' switched on, on my Samsung 8 Note, and I am not 100% sure why. I gave up trying to connect in the end and used the local wifi, which worked fine, but this can be unsafe doing this. Also, I found that my own O2 classic payasyougo uk only sim worked fine in Finland, despite me not trusting what the O2 website said, as their info is all over the place. Basically, somewhere in the streams of info, it said that it would work in the UK and calls would be charged at the UK rate. I found this to be true. I made a few calls to check this out. So, in my case, as I couldn't access the internet, I may as well of not bothered to buy this sim and now wish that I had simply added the £20 I paid for it (£5 postage), to my classic payasyougo sim.

This was a mint used SIM from Amazon Resale, supplied originally by Speakeasy, who handle the activation and support. The helpdesk staff had some problems initially because the resale order number didn’t match their records, but they identified the issue and got the SIM operational. Works well and is really good value for money.
