The press isn’t the easiest to use unless you get a separate clamp to press it down. But it’s a great starting point for book binding.

Overall, I really like this bookbinding kit from NiHome. It was easy to assemble, the materials feel durable, and after watching some videos online (because it doesn't come with instructions) and buying some glue and materials for a cover, I've decided that I think it's a great option for beginner bookbinding. The bamboo boards are quite sturdy and, along with the screws, provide some decent compression power. The additional tools are a nice bonus. Very happy with the set!

This is really a flower press and can be used as a book press. It comes with lots of goodies for making a go of padding (making notepads) or to help hold your pages as you attempt to do some book binding. You will inevitably become frustrated if you are using this sort of tool to make a stitched book binding, but it is definitely a great tool to have on hand if you want to take up bookmaking as a hobby.This kit comes with a lot of useful supplies. The bamboo top and bottom are nice and thick. They are identical in size and the holes are placed perfectly for making a nice tool! You have to assemble this yourself, but you can do it! It's not complicated and it would be a great activity for a teen or tween. The handle is not super quality, but it is sized right for the pilot holes. Having a handle helps with functionality. The needles are good quality, as are the bone folders.You get an impressive amount of bookbinding cloth in this kit!
